I see, thanks for the info. Must admit, I’ve got a 3′ tank in the garage currently just growing fish on a bit. I might just divide it and really start a breeding project.

I am VERY interested. I’ve fallen for these little guys, would love to get them breeding and into a nice large shoal.

    Thanks…lovely tanks!!

Do you add a pair into your 8gallon and then remove them after the spawn then?

That a great haul of fry in a week!! What do you feed the youngsters on and where do you rear them? What is the tank set up? I ask because I’m sure mine were courting already this morning in and out of the moss. I don’t have a second tank available just yet. I’m in no rush but would love to breed and rear these lovely fish.

I think a second tank is the order of the day. OR I might try a large breeding trap within a tank to hold any fry until they are big enough to enter the main tank

Its a shame but it makes sense as I suppose people have moved on or the initial excitement has died. I also see very few in the shops near me so I suppose they aren’t really in the limelight. I will spread the word when ever possible

I’m keeping mine at 25-26C and they seem to like it. I do have a couple of other tanks but they have fish big enough to eat the fry and in some cases probably a small adult. I’ve seen a nice small nano (about 20l) might try and sneak that in somewhere as a spawning tank and move the adults back to their current tank when they are done.

I got my cpds for £4 each!!! I want to breed them to get more into the hobby. I’m sure there are plenty left in the wild and very few are seen in the LFS.

What plants do you have in your tank Jim. I have five CPDS in a 45 litre tank full of moss. I’m hoping that will prevent all of any young that might hatch, being live food
