I’ve just joined having finally got hold of only five of these beauties!! The site looks to have been quite active but in recent months looks very quiet indeed. Are most still around and lurking or has the site effectively died a death? If so…how can we get it going again?
July 9, 2009 at 3:21 am #13994BallAquaticsParticipantHi Tom, welcome to the forum.
It’s pretty much dead… a few posts dribble in from time to time, but dead for the most part.
I guess most of the people that were crazy over these fantastic little danios have lost interest.

I still visit regularly (most days) mainly to check make sure there is no spam.
I don’t have my cpd’s anymore but my sister does (i live at home as so does she) so i still care for them and like them just as much as the first day i got them (when this site first started up!)
Not to sure on ways we could advertise the site tbh. If someone posts up a question on another forum i normally pm the link to here. I do know a while ago there was a problem with signing up and people couldnt register though. most would email about there problem but im sure a few probably didnt.
July 9, 2009 at 7:28 am #14000Tom2006ParticipantIts a shame but it makes sense as I suppose people have moved on or the initial excitement has died. I also see very few in the shops near me so I suppose they aren’t really in the limelight. I will spread the word when ever possible
July 10, 2009 at 11:56 pm #14017Tom2006ParticipantI’d be happy to become a mod. Although looking at the traffic through the site, no offence, there isn’t much need for one?
I’d be happy to try and push the name of the site around. I suppose like you say, the initial hype has died down, which is strange because they are still fantastic fish!
November 21, 2009 at 3:14 am #14212BallAquaticsParticipantI recently purchased the site from Celestialdude and would like any comments on ways to spark interest in the site.
I’ve put a home page in place of just landing in the forum so that I can add some content – I’m thinking about articles on different breeding set-ups, general care, raising fry, etc.
I’m really into Danios and I also have the site http://www.danionins.com that will cover Danios, Devarios, and other closely related species… no forum on this site though.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not sure really. I’m really surprised the interest is lacking in these gorgeous fish. I would say branching the site out into danios might boost things but then sadly you lose the exclusivity of just the cpds. Difficult one really.
November 16, 2010 at 12:07 am #14663RiverParticipantHello! I just wanted to say hi; I am new to this site. I kept fish when I was younger for 7 years, and it took me that long to figure out how to do it, because I had no way to do any research. I am now a senior in college, and just getting back into the hobby. I came across this site and fell in love with Celestial Pearl Danios – I don’t have any yet, and don’t have the means to get any at the moment, but as soon as I am no longer in school and have a place where I can keep two tanks (grr dorm rules), I intend to get one set up especially for them.
It seems like most of the posts here are from quite a while ago. Where did all the excitement go? How are peoples CPD’s doing? I for one am really excited. Surely there are others out there who are still excited… right?

November 16, 2010 at 1:06 am #14664BallAquaticsParticipantHi River, welcome to the forum.
Now that all the hoopla has died down, it’s just us fish keepers. Are there still people excited about the Celestial Pearl Danio? Well I list them for sale on AquaBid every now and then… so far this year, I’ve sold several hundred to dozens of hobbyist very excited to get them.
Here on the forum, you’ll find people who have been keeping CPD’s for years now along with people just getting started with them.
This site literally gets thousands of hits each month… there is so much info amassed here about CPD’s I think it leads to getting fewer posts because visitors are finding the answers to their questions.
As of 15 Nov 2010 we have had 25677 unique visitors with 1226924 hits so far this year. Are there people still excited about CPD’s – I think so!

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am still excited but as you can see I am pretty new to these fish. It took me quite awhile to get some CPD’s because they are not available locally.
I recently made a egg trap but have not had any luck yet. I don’t think it’s the fish, I think the problem is me.
There is so much information here that you will most likely graduate before reading it all. Good luck and please let us know when you get some of these beautiful fish.
November 20, 2010 at 9:51 pm #14677Tom2006ParticipantGood point….simply because this site has some much detailed information prevents the need for repeat postings.
A big factor is that these beautiful fish look dreadful in the shop so many people just walk past. Plus, locally the prices are going up and up, they are about £6-8 each over here now…which is very expensive for what looks to be a very very tiny pale grey fish in the shop tank….little do people know what they are missing.

Hello Tom2006,
Here in the US, if you can find them, they cost approximately $6.00 US dollars. I wish people here wouldn’t know what they were and leave them in the shop for me to find.
I agree that many do not know what they are missing. It is a shame because once they color up they are fantastic little fish and have very sassy personalities.
November 22, 2010 at 12:01 pm #14679RescuePenguinParticipantI’ve owned these little guys for a year. I have done a few spawns now, and getting better with each spawn. They can be hard to find here. At some point in the future i’ll buy some from someone far away to add to the gene pool.
