without even looking – yes. If you have male and female guppys in a tank the females will be constantly pregnat.
KatchParticipantGuppys and CPDs will get on just fine.
Your plants will need some additional nutrients to survive. They will also need enough light.
You can and should remove the plants from their pots; remove any lead weight and plant them deep into the gravel (gravel is fine for many aquatic plants. Also be aware there are some plants that you don’t plant into the gravel like anubias and java ferns – these are best tied to a bit of bog wood or stone.)
The best thing you can do for low mantainance plants is add some root tabs and then use a good liquid fert every other day or 3 times weekly (TPN+ is excellent).
KatchParticipantFry count is now 9 – feeding them liquifry and the tank is literally hopping with little bugs (amphipods and copepods I think) so as soon as they get to a size to eat these bugs it’ll be a banquet!
KatchParticipantYeah mine go nuts when i do WCs too. I guess the cooler more highly oxygenated water triggers energetic behaviour which in turn leads to spawning. This is why WCs are a spawning trigger for many fish.
KatchParticipantmine wouldn’t take the micros until they’d grown on a bit.
First bites are they way forward. The sink very slowly and swirl around in a cloud in the tank. grain size is tiny and mine loved it when they wouldn’t take anything else.
All my mature celestials in good condition come up and feed from the surface now.
I also found at the start that well crush JBL nano fish flakes went down well.
They will be picking up food from the substrate so no real panic.
KatchParticipantMine love Hikari First Bites and Hikari Micro Pellets (not mini)
They show less interest in frozen tubifex and chopped bloodworm. My fish have come on so much since feeding the Hikari foods.
KatchParticipantHikari first bites and micro (not mini) pellets are perfect.
KatchParticipantold pair of tights and a zip tie – or fine filter bag and zip tie.
It will slow the syphon down but it won’t let the fry out – you can also try getting some thinner tube like airline. again it is slow but on a small grow out tank shouldn’t matter too much.
KatchParticipantJust purchased a breeding group of CPDs in the Southwest UK.
£5 or 2 for £9 Maidenhead Aquatics (small fish)
£2.25 from a LFS who only had 7 (not standard stock, fully grown and beautiful looking stock)
If I get fry I’ll be selling privately to local keepers if there is any interest.
