I haven’t seen many cpd’s for sale for quite a while (1 year plus)
when i bought mine when they were first discovered i paid £4 each and when i last saw them they where the same price or 5 for £18
chr15_8ParticipantWhen i was breeding mine i use to feed them on live daphina. I dont have a clue about the water parameter as i used what ever came out the tap. if i remember rightly they prefer a lower temperature than most tropical fish.
I have heard that a cool water change can help the towards spawning if they look ready,
if you have the space i would set up another tank so when they spawn as it will will alot easier to gather the fry.
chr15_8ParticipantHi.
I still visit regularly (most days) mainly to check make sure there is no spam.
I don’t have my cpd’s anymore but my sister does (i live at home as so does she) so i still care for them and like them just as much as the first day i got them (when this site first started up!)
Not to sure on ways we could advertise the site tbh. If someone posts up a question on another forum i normally pm the link to here. I do know a while ago there was a problem with signing up and people couldnt register though. most would email about there problem but im sure a few probably didnt.

chr15_8Participanttank looks great.
bet they love it. im about to plant mine tommorow
you using c02, ferts etc?
chr15_8Participantif its swimming in open water im sure it will be fine.
most fish if sick would stay in cover to stay out the way of predators.
more than likely just getting bravour. hopefully the others will follow some aswell.
chris
chr15_8Participantlooking great!

chris

Thanks for all the replies guys!
I’m planning to get a BIGGER tank. A oceanic Bio Cube 14 Gallon. That will definitely work. . All i ask is if you guys can answer all of my questions below.
1. Will they breed randomly in whatever pH? My pH is 7.6
your ph should be fine
2. Can I choose when and not to breed them?
sort off. if you dont want fry you could leave them in the tank. or better way is to split the males and females. could be hard but there are ways to tell (carnt remember the best way tbh)
3. How many babies if I get many of them to breed?
if parent are in the tank i get about 5-6 out in time. but if you seperate them into a proper breeding tank then you could see 20+ if i remember properly
4. If I have this much CPD’s, do you think the adult CPD’s that aren’t spawning will most likely eat eggs that are coming out of a pair?
some eggs will get eaten. if they get into the fry stage any fry that dont hide will propably get eaten
5. Can I add a breeder net or lee’s 5 way breeder inside the 14g nano cube? Will it work If i trap/isolate the parents/adults in the net so the eggs/frys will be safe?
i put a net in my tank for about 2 weeks. i then place into a 2.5 gallon/5 gallon tank
6. IS 17 CPD’S…JUST WAY TOO MUCH?
in a 15 gallon tank i would thought they will be fine. will look nicer and fell safer in that size group aslong as the filter can hadle the waste (my cpd’s dont produce much waste though)
7. Have you guys successfully sell them online? If so, what price?
i sold about 15 fry (3 weeks old) for about £12 ( i was going away in a weeks time so need to get rid so they be looked after properly when i was away ste sold a few on ebay for a good price £10-15 for 5 i think
8. Can you actually make good money if doing this?
i wouldnt say good money but if you breed them enough im sure that would pay for food etc for both the adults and fry
9. Have you guys successfully shipped with no accidents or deaths? havent shipped before. i know a few have though)10. Is this…really worth it?
i would say sochr15_8Participantthanks ted.
im looking now. hope there are fine though-
chr15_8Participanthi welcome to the site.
i too would go for the bigger one. 5 gallons sounds a little small for 17 cpd.
have fun and good luck breeding. dont forget to get/post ppictures.
chris
chr15_8Participanthi good luck with breeding them.

chrischr15_8Participantlittle late but tank looks great.
