ParticipantFungused? What does that mean? They’re overgrown with fungus and don’t make it? Can that be prevented?

ParticipantThanks for sharing, Lasseter. Just curious, but in the community tank, are they separated by sex? Wondering why they would want to suddenly breed in the breeding tank vs. the regular community tank — is it because it is a smaller space and everyone’s more cosy? Or, are they always breeding anyways, just that the breeding tank allows you to capture the eggs? Tx again for sharing your experience on breeding danios.

ParticipantSorry to hear Chris. Do you have any Nutrafin Cycle? That might help… also, what kind of lighting do you have?

ParticipantWow, that’s an amazing article and these are amazing fish. Their body shape is adapted to the fast-flowing waters in which they live, and like the aerofoil shape on an airplane’s wing, causes “lift” to be produced.
This is very interesting indeed — recreating a habitat that mimics a fast flowing river. I sure hope that there’s a backup power supply, I’d want one if I had such a setup.
Thanks for the great post!!!

ParticipantHaha… nice storytelling here.
Those are not bloodworms? Or are they the same thing, red mosquito larvae?

ParticipantNot only are the photos great, the fishes are also in the best of health and well-formed.

ParticipantWow nice. You’ve taken that idea and improved it leaps and bounds. Makes me wanna start another tank.

ParticipantHi Waterfaller,
Thx again for sharing the plant specs on your freshwater tank. Are you by any chance influenced by Takashi Amano? Have you seen any of his books? I just got my first Amano book last week and it gave me lots of aquascaping ideas.
Keep up the great living artwork!!
celestialdude
ParticipantYeah both fishes are jewels.
celestialdude
ParticipantYeah actually, the fins are not that red and well-formed. He needs to eat some bloodworms!! Heheh sorry about the criticism. Hope the fish is not too offended.

ParticipantThose are the best colors I’ve seen so far, comparable to Aaron Koo’s photos on our masthead. The dark blue is dark and blue, the golden pearls are bright rich gold, the reds are deep blood red, and the blacks are … yeah you get the picture. Tx again Glenn!!! Great work raising these healthy specimens.

ParticipantOh wow thx for that link, L777. At $6.50 a fish, that’s quite steep, but fair considering the status of the species. I hope more people breed them seriously so we can have more healthy specimens of these beauties.

ParticipantHAHAHA CONGRATS STE on the “2nd person award”. Those egg pictures are great, you can see the embryos in them curled up like a “C”.

ParticipantIt’s interesting that you all are interested in this fish too. I wonder if people who like Celestial Pearl Danios also happen to like the Dwarf Neon Rainbow Fish (Melanotaenia praecox). I happen to be a big fan myself and have 6 of them (3M, 3F) in my main 20G tank as the dominant school.
There’s something about their silvery blue scales, red/yellow fins, and their swiftness and grace. Remind me of dolphins.
