ParticipantYeah saw that. Thanks for the post! I’ll have to change this site’s header…

ParticipantOh sorry I just re-read your post and you said you have 6 already? Hmm… the other thing also is that the substrate cannot be sharp/jagged but must be smooth particles. Lots of factors…

ParticipantAh yes!! The key thing is that these fishies are schoolers, so they will feel more comfortable when there are 6 or more of their “conspecifics” — e.g. same species. However, from my experience, I’ve never had more than 2 of a species, and I have 7 cory cats in total, and they’re a lively bunch. They seem to enjoy each other’s company. I’ve got 2 Peppered, 2 Julii, 2 Sterba’s and 1 Orange Laser (or Bronze is it?). So try that… get more of their friends and that should do the trick.
Also, make sure you feed them sinking wafers, including algae tablets…

ParticipantThanks for the feedback guys. It’s probably the Amazon ads. When they “stall”, the rest of the page doesn’t load too. I’ll get rid of them at some point. Since I launched them I’ve made zero dollars from them.

ParticipantSounds like fun! I had looked at biotopes as well some time ago… however, I concluded that I wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation to add other “non-indigenous” species… so I scrapped the idea… so now I mix and match, but within reason of course. But still, I’m sure it can be implemented well with good results.

ParticipantHello Lisa!
Welcome to the Celestial Club! Tx for the introduction and looking forward to chatting fish with you.
celestialdude
ParticipantBeautiful!!! Soon you’ll be able to start your own CPD shop. Hmm are you looking to sell/ship them at some point?
celestialdude

ParticipantJust got a nice T5 lighting fixture for my new 45-gallon. Hoping to turn it into a nice Glossostigma (that’s a carpet plant with small leaves) planted tank. Also, need to figure out what to do with my existing 20-gallon from which I’ve migrated all the existing fish.
Other than that… hoping for more Celestials. Of my original 4, one died, but 1 fry has been born and has made it into semi-adulthood. Looking out for more specimens to add to my breeding collection.

ParticipantHappy New Year and may 2008 be a good year for everyone!
celestialdude
ParticipantYea, still here! Setting up my new (actually, donated) 45-gallon. Trying to figure out layouts. It will definitely have lots of Glossostigma elatinoides. I just planted some clumps after coming back from the LFS. Looking forward to a nice planted tank and will post some photos soon.

ParticipantI recommend full-spectrum lighting, yes, even for humans! OK I know not everyone may have control over their work environment… but if you do… and if you can change the fluorescent lighting above your workspace, replace them with the full-spectrum ones… they sell them here at Canadian Tire and are not pricey at all.

ParticipantCongrats Algenco!!! Send us some pictures later…

ParticipantThanks Ste! And a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!!!
A friend gave me his long 30-gallon tank!! I’m overjoyed… I’ve bought a hood and stand for it. Am still trying to figure out what to put in it… but it will be great!!!!
