Like altaaffe i swap or buy in new blood as often as is possible. Although the opportunities are few i think it is neccessary to keep the line as pure as possible, and to inhibit inbreeding.

albatrossParticipantCongrats on your fry. I have found the best way to feed these tiny fry is by Liqifry,Micro worms,Paramecia,Inforsoria and VERY fine flake. I have raised several broods using this method. You could try banana worms as these are small. Good luck, i wish you every success in you endeavours.
albatrossParticipantCongrats Andrew Hope you find many more. I didn’t seperate my fry but if you have tank space free i would recomend that you move the fry.
albatrossParticipantHi everybody, Well i guess its time to tell. My name is Gary im probally the OLDEST member??? Im 54. I live in Caldicot S.E. Wales U.K I live with my partner and our daughter. Have been keeping water (fish) for over 25 years. At the moment i have 7 tanks. 3 are exclusively used for CPD’s the others contain mixed community fish I wish to thank ALL members on here for their help and kindness through this forum and to wish you all every success with your fish keeping endeavours
albatrossParticipantHi Atlantis Glad to hear your going to try again. If you do get those plant mats can i suggest you get some plant weight lead and attatch it to the mat That is what i done with mine. ( A word of caution though my CPD’s love the mat to hide in and i dont see them that often )
albatrossParticipantHi and Welcome, If you go to the Main Forum Index then onto Photo/Media Gallery and click on Danio Pictures from Glenn He has posted photos of the fry’s progression week by week.
albatrossParticipantYou have my sincere sympathy. I know how much you loved these fish. Like you i have lost fish through rushing,it makes you feel terrible. Hope you dont get too disillutioned and stay with this wonderful hobby.
albatrossParticipantHi Atlantis The tank set up sounds about right. What are your water like (sorry if you’ve already posted this) but water quality IS important. Feeding live food is the best option but if you cant get any then frozen is next best. Try frozen Daphnia or Cyclops if you do get that Brine Shrimp hatcher your Galaxies will love the newly hatched napulii Hope this helps and with luck you will get fry and remember patience is a VIRTUE.
albatrossParticipantYour Galaxies might breed with other fish in the tank but the eggs/fry certainly would not survive. I have found the best solution is to keep them in a species tank (HEAVILY planted ) to give the fry optimum chance of survival.
albatrossParticipantNice fish Wish i could purchase some unusual (not common) fish down this way. Is the chocolate gourami going to be a breeding project?
albatrossParticipantCongrates Atlantic Now you can sit back and watch the little devils GROW. Its amazing how quick they do,but i dont recomend you measure them every week as it will be bad for your eyesight lol
albatrossParticipantCongratulations Atlantis Hope everything goes well for you there
albatrossParticipantUnfortunatly or fortunatly depending on you view this is how we all started. Just the one tank then some fish breed so you need more space, then you start thinking could i breed this or that species and before long you have several tanks. It happened to me started with one now on seven and considering eight. Have considered SEALING and FLOODING living room but my partner not happy with this Oh Well
albatrossParticipantWow how i wish for a room like that Im GREEN…….with envy Could you do updates on this as im sure many on this forum would like to follow your progress
