When they were first described they were calle Galaxy rasboras, they have seen been put in the right group of fish and given their current name.

I personally would go for healthy wilds every time IF possible. I was just lucky that my shop had(still has) wilds.

That isn’t to dismiss captive bred just be wary of inbreeding. My youngsters are F1s from the wild parents and colouring up very nicely. I just wont be inbreeding these.

Don’t know of any myself. My local Maidenhead has some but they aren’t cheap (£4.25 each) and sadly miles (Yorkshire) from you. I would be happy to buy and post some for you but the postage wouldn’t be cheap and obviously I couldn’t guarantee live arrival although it would be special delivery so they would be covered. They are good fish though. Wild caughts, I got mine from them, and they are superb fish and breeding now.

They will almost certainly breed (as long as you have both sexes of course).

You might get the odd fry surviving but its unlikely. You would have much more chance if you devoted a smaller tank to it. I’d give them a month to settle and fatten up and then select either a small group or just a male and female. Put them in a small tank with lots of plants/moss. Give them a couple of days and you should get a spawn. The eggs don’t stick and will sink to the floor where the adults will probably try to eat them so IF you see the spawn get the adults out as soon as you can. If not then just give them a few days and remove the adults.

They will much prefer their own company. I know mine do, and in a 5 gallon tank with plenty of moss/plants they will probably start to breed very soon. Gorgeous fish!

Thats REALLY great news!! Did you treat in the end? Whatever you did, I’m glad you got it sorted. I’m sure in your lovely tank you’ll have some fry in no time.

I’ve not tried it but Serpaes can be quite thug…ish fish and CPDs are small and timid. I personally wouldn’t, especially if you would like to see them breeding. But maybe others can give thoughts.

I got some micro powder food which along with the tiny life in the moss feeds them fine. I feed both in the trap and in the tank.

    Hi

That should work fine but its not easy to find and catch any young before the adults eat them. I am using a similar system to the one you plan and in the last two months have only caught four, although three have for some reason survived the mouths of the parents in the tank. Java moss and floating plants are probably the best for protecting the eggs/fry. Good luck!

I’ve never used that so can’t advise. What I would say is that if they have been link that for about two weeks then it can’t be anything serious. Melafix could work or something like the Kusuri wormer already mentioned. Good luck!!…nice to hear the others are doing well

They grow quite quickly really. They should be around 1 – 1.5cm in about two months ish.

They will much prefer to be in their parent tank (Without the parents of course). Mine love the stuff I gave the link to. I also feed some BBS after a few weeks

Have you got anything you can quarantine these three in? It would be awful if they infect the rest of your tank.

The eggs don’t really stick so its normal to find the youngsters on the bottom. If you have adults in there they will eat most of the eggs and the wrigglers. IF you have LOADS of moss and floating plants then some often survive. I have around 8 in my tank from numerous spawnings that are still alive and have dodged the parents. I haven’t used green water, I found this to be good and eaten by the youn fish.

They do best in mature tanks with lots of plants.

Must admit, that last pic does look like the fish is unwell and certainly not eating. Are the other CPD’s doing ok?…or is it all of them?
