So i ended up with 3f/2m in the tank.. is there any issues there or should i remove one of the males?

Excellent, thanks Tress29. I ordered some filter material off the net to build a pre-filter but if you havent had an issue i may not worry about it.
I’m going to do a water test tonight and if it goes well I will put a few females and a male in there for e a few days.. so hopefully they play the mating games :)

I’m not sure if you have seen the fluval chi
    http://www.aquariumoddities.com/reviews/fluval-chi/

The filter sucks water from the bottom of that cube and waterfalls it back into the tank.. the filter isnt overly strong but do you think it would be okay for fry or should i try and add another layer of foam to act as a pre-filter sponge?

I have a fairly planted tank

Its 12 Gallon (46L) I tend to do a 10L water change once a week. s0 15-20% weekly water change.

For you 20G fry tank, what percentage and how often do you do a water change?

    Thanks Denis,

    Ill try 2-3F/1M

I think it may boil down to who i can actually catch as the fulval edge can be tricky given the small opening and tress/plants/decorations in the way :)

How long do you leave your 3-4f/1M in the breeding tank for?

I have spotted 1 or 2 females that look like they have a bigger belly…. now i’m just waiting for the little tank to cycle.. hopefully sooner than later!
I have been using that liquid cycle from hageen along with a ton a live plants and a few good squeezes from the filter foam of the current tank.. so hopefully its almost there!

Is there any easy way to tell when its the right time for breeding? Do they need to be a certain size? or should i just pick a few of the bigger ones?

From reading the forums it sounds like 2f/1m is a good ration.

Sounds like a plan, I ordered a chunk of filter foam off the net today but will keep an eye out for one locally. – thanks BallAquatics.
