I havented tried to breed my CPD’s in a while (since i was getting way to many)… I have a “tub” that i use for spare extra plants and what not.. i added some shrimp and CPD.. and keep seeing little fry appearing.. so the new system seems to run it self
shiftParticipanti find the fry are to small for baby brine shrimp for the first week or two
shiftParticipantI turned my FX5 down and added a small power head on the oposite side to keep a nice circular flow in the tank.. The little guys seem to play in the flow so i think they are good to go!
shiftParticipantMy breed/raised fry are much more social the the original batch i purchased
shiftParticipantNice shots!
shiftParticipantI found them to be less timid in large groups.. also the ones i have breed seem to be far less timid then my original purchased ones
shiftParticipantSorry i meant what did you feed them (which you answered.. darn auto correct!!) but you also brought up a good question..
1. How often did you feed them?
2. What temperature did you keep the water, how often did you change it?
3. Was your substrate light or dark in color?
4. Did all tanks have the same lighting? If so what was the light and how many hours per day was it on?I appreciate you posting your tests. its inspiring me to try some of them as well.
Any chance you have some photos of your breeding setups?
shiftParticipantExcellent results!
Did you try bare bottom tank at all?
Also did you condition the fish at all or just put them all in together at once?
What did you feed time?
shiftParticipantPiotr… The suspense is killing me!
shiftParticipantI’m sure it will work. I feed mine random stuff and never had an issue
shiftParticipantAny updates Piotr K ?
shiftParticipantI’m semi worried about the same thing. I will have a FX5 on the new tank which has a pretty decent flow rate..
shiftParticipantSo there’s at least 3 that have a similar issue. None of the fry since the first batch have had an issue. I didn’t realize I had fry at first and did some minor tank rearrangement and planting way back when. I’m guessing maybe some of the eggs were buried or damaged at the time and these few poor guys are the result
shiftParticipantSadly the little guy is still having issues. It’s like he got squished in a door and he curves to the side . You might be right about him not getting better
shiftParticipantSo my egg traps seem to be working. I built a second one using java moss instead of yarn which seems to get the majority of the eggs now. I left it in for 2 days and dumped into my fry tank today and counted about 8 eggs. Ill give it 2-3 more days then re-check/test the 2 again. It doesn’t sounds like its getting quite the output as the full java moss tank but then again this is a day or two compared to a week of spawning
Piotr- how’s yours testings going? what seems to be working best for you?
