Hi Dennis
no probs at all,
I’ve been keeping a close eye on the tank, I have seen plenty of chasing but no actual spawning,
I have tried to spy on the small (4 x 4″) ball of java moss for eggs etc but no confirmed sightings,
also no signs of any fry, but i may have possibly missed such activities and mum and dad could be dining out on caviar.Ollie
ollieParticipantThanks Raven
Ive been doing large water changes every over day (40-50%)
Theres still traces of the slime but not as epic as before.
Ive also keep the lights off for 3 days or so (incase its some kind of algae) but im fairly confident
its a bacteria problem.have also cut down on feeding the tank, so hopefully another week or so of this will eliminate the problem!
Ive searched quite a bit online, seem to be a common issue when cycling new tanks, however no one seems to have a definate answer
of what this is and how to avoid..so for now, water changes and a bit of java moss (to soak up nutrients) seems to be the way forward.Ollie

ollieParticipantquick update,
just tested my water again,
Ammonia 0 , nitrites back to 0, and nitrates around the 40 markwhat a different a day and a water change makes!
after yesterday’s fiasco it was a welcome relieve coming back from work to see all my little friends swimming around happily and feeding well !also, i ventured into the outside closet, seems the previous owners of my property left me an old 60 litre (estimate) tank in there!!!!
a welcomed surprise !!!! so now have a weekend of removing the old gravel (still in the tank!!!) , cleaning it out, and setting it up, they wasnt kind enough to
leave the lid or filter though! hahahaha so a trip to the lfs is in order!!!!ollieParticipantCheers Dennis
your info and re-assurance is most welcomed!
