    Hi All

So atfer my first sucessful spawn a couple o months back (more luck than judgement)
i’ve noticed my little friends havent spawned since.

I spotted one of my females getting a little rounder over the last week or so, and the males chasing her.
Is their any triggers I can perform to speed thing up?… dim the lights? lower the temp (ice cubes) ? play some barry white?

Jokes aside, is there anything i can do to trigger the spawn?

Any info, as always, would be much appreciated

I don’t believe they need a trigger like some fish. They are more like most livebearers, if you’ve got both sexes in the tank then they will spawn.

What makes you think they aren’t spawning Ollie? I’m not being facetious, I just remember when I had my first CPD’s. They were set-up for almost a year and I’d only get a fry now and then. It was only later that I realized they were spawning all the while, they were just eating all the eggs and/or fry.

    Hi Dennis

    no probs at all,
I’ve been keeping a close eye on the tank, I have seen plenty of chasing but no actual spawning,
I have tried to spy on the small (4 x 4″) ball of java moss for eggs etc but no confirmed sightings,
also no signs of any fry, but i may have possibly missed such activities and mum and dad could be dining out on caviar.
