madattiverParticipant
my fry tank is a 5 gallon tank with alot of javamoss in it, sand bottom and a sponge filter. The fry seem to be able to pick alot of food out of the javamoss and off the filter
madattiverParticipantthey so not lay them in clusters.. those would be snail eggs.. they are egg scatterers and the eggs will be individial in amongst the tank. most likely they will fall to the bottom as they are not sticky as far as I have found
madattiverParticipantthey are maybe 1 mm or slightly bigger (just a rough guess) and clear like a crystal ball
madattiverParticipantI actually removed a few eggs the other day as they spawned right in the front of the tank. The eggs are actually alot larger then I expected they would be and look quite similar in size to mose danio species.
madattiverParticipantthe colors of the fish brighten and get much sharper when spawning. mine when I got them weren’t very colorful, kind of pale looking.. no when spawning the males get quite dark and the red really comes out in their fins.
madattiverParticipantI use earthworm flakes from http://www.kensfish.com
madattiverParticipantI just give them crushed flakes.. and that seems to be all they need as I am collecting a few fry from the tank every day or two
madattiverParticipantcool clip..
madattiverParticipantI have 2 males and 2 females in a 5 gallon tank
madattiverParticipantit was around a month before I saw fry
madattiverParticipantmy water here is quite hard, quite perfect for cichlids, and mine spawn quite readily for me.
madattiverParticipantI spawned mine in water a ph around 7.8 and temp of 74 F.. they were quite easy to spawn as I had them one month before I noticed fry in the tank.
