I remember when i bred Africans, so many people here in the Toronto area were involved.
CPD’s I find a lot of people here talk about them and ask for them at the fish stores but no one is breeding.
Would you ever ship fry to Toronto?

Fingers crossed! Here in Canada CPD are impossible to find now so I’m hoping to get a breeding program happening.
JohnZParticipantI live in southern Ontario Canada, and I tried the outdoor project in big styrofoam containers.
I used White Cloud Minnows, both the common and longfin varieties started it in early May, and they just THRIVED!!!
The containers contained play sand with basic tiny grade gravel, planted with Dwarf and Giant hair grass, and willow moss. They bred like crazy, and i fed them once or twice a week with flake food but for the most part they ate the insect larvae and nymphs found through the system.
As someone mentioned in a previous post, some of the fish in our hobby are much more hardier than we give them credit for. I brought in the adults and surviving fry in October. When i went to drain the container in early December after we’ve already gotten a few nights below freezing to my surprised I missed about 5 fish all still alive!
I am going to try it this year with my celestial fry once i get them. Hope it all goes good!
JohnZParticipant2 male to 4 females it is then! So I guess heating the water to 75F was totally unnecessary…
I’ll keep you posted on what happens. They’re very hard to come by here in Canada, I live in Toronto. Hopefully I have a lot available, though I’d love to mix some wild stock into my group.
