It does appear to be swim bladder seems to happen every so often, maybe 1 or 2% in the fish I have raised.
gedParticipantIt is a madagascar lace plant it is struggling a little right now because of the heat of summer leaves seem to deform when the water hits 80F
gedParticipantgedParticipantI have found if you put a single cutting from a stem plant every couple of inches keeps them nearer the front
gedParticipantI feed frozen brine shrimp I haven’t tried the flakes

the colour of your males is outstanding!! Do you feed them anything special?
I do feed them a little of everything I use flake, sinking staplefood pellets some frozen food: brine shrimp almost every day but lightly a cube for several tanks, some plankton, emerald entree (mix of animal and vegetable),glassworm less often and a frozen cichlid mix only because it was left over. They also seem to like the hikari shrimp cuisine as well, and of course their own fry  I also find they tend to be more colourful during displays. The pictures were taken in my display tank
Most of the males in this tank are hand picked f1, one of the fish in the pictures was my oldest (wild caught in 2007)gedParticipant@RescuePenguin wrote:
You are doing the right thing. I personally prefer smaller water changes more often, They’ll eat anything, from flakes, sinking wafers, bloodworms (their fav food), shrimp cuisine etc. My colony grew from about 25 in Jan to roughly 70 now. I’ll see if I can post some pics soon. Yes they are prolific, when food is plentyful they breed like rabits. Watch out for planera if you over feed. When I do a water change, I do it as a vacuum, keep the substrate as clean as possible
Unfortunately she seems to have released the eggs I think it is too soon for them to have hatched they are all very young still.
I can’t wait they are not common here right now I am going to do what I can to change that. I prefer the sinking food so I can control where the majority of the excess goes for easy recovery and I see the shrimp more often. Planera don’t really bother me too much unless they cause an issue? I have seen them the gravel is from an established planted tank so they were imported but they are only small.gedParticipantgedParticipantI use both hob and canister I use sponge on the intakes I also use floss on the outflow of the hobs(hanging it a couple of inches outside)it gets rid of the splashing sound and also directs the current straight down. I have never used sponges but I hear they are good. Personally I might consider using a filter that I could use carbon in with 20 fish in 10 gallon I wouldn’t worry too much about the brand(I use aquaclear because it is easy to put my own media in instead of buying inserts). I cut my own sponges to fit and buy anything else in bulk.
gedParticipantThey don’t seem to ship well (the fish) that is I often see them with concave bellies in pet stores, but if you meet their needs they will rebound
gedParticipantThey will. I have seen fry in the holding tank I use before selling my fish, I have been selling the fish between 4 and 7 months of age. This time I am going to raise a bunch to adulthood. This is the 3+ year old wild caught male I use for breeding I think he is pretty close to dying he is quite grey, but he is still alpha in a tank of 8 males
gedParticipantI collected 60 -80 per week , I used a 68 litre 2 males 4 females I had it pretty much packed with moss. I personally did water changes with cooler water then fed with frozen or live food, it seemed to trigger breeding behavior almost immediately. Right now I have all I can handle 200 + between 4 months and 3.5 years.
I looked at your tank that work, are you removing the adults after spawning?gedParticipantI would just use 1 or 2, the more mouths the more eggs in  jeopardy  IMO
gedParticipantYea I have seen them as firework rasboras as well, they are still danios as far as I have read.
gedParticipantI have kept with mine 2 amano and one cherry I collected 60-80 fry a week and that is with the parents in the tank(2 males and 4 females). The most I collected was 110 they may eat some but they are prolific with proper care. If you have a whole colony of cherry it might be an issue. The biggest problem is the size of tank I would use a single shrimp. I imagine an otto would be fine as well .
