Wow!
Thanks for the tip, tmitch06.
Check them some images of them:

I think these would make a good complement to the Celestial Pearl Danios, in addition to Zebra Danios!
celestialdudeParticipantYes I am a big fan of wild guppies. In Malaysia where I grew up you could find them in suburban storm drains. They are indeed very hardy and have interesting personalities, not to mention beautiful colors, even better than the purebreds in my opinion.
celestialdudeParticipantYes I used to do this all the time since I was a kid. It’s easier for small tanks, just remove 2/3 of the water and transport it.
For larger tanks, yeah, Crazedpuffer has the right advice.
celestialdudeParticipantYes, same thing, just like how dandelion can be either a weed or garden vegetable depending on how you look at things. If I had a garden I’d be growing lots of dandelion!
celestialdudeParticipantThanks for the post Atlantis Child! Consumers beware!
celestialdudeParticipantThey get along well with all other community fish, from what I’m seeing.
However, from an aesthetics point of view, I think Zebra Danios would be the closest relative to the Celestial Pearl Danio, so yes, it would be a nice combination. Great idea!
celestialdudeParticipantWild guppies are awesome! Their colors are more “real” and not so umm… loud. However I read somewhere that if you breed the purebreds with the wild ones, then you just get weird results…. but I think that was from a purebred breeder’s point of view. I say, go for it!
celestialdudeParticipantTru dat!
celestialdudeParticipantAh but plants are so worth the hassle! If you’re doing it right, they will grow well without much hassle. Make sure u hv full-spectrum lighting, with a timer so that it’s on during daylight hours (plants need sleep too). And they should be fine… some extra CO2 is a bonus… maybe some plant fertilizer would be nice too… take a look at Glenn’s photos, his planted tanks are beautiful!
celestialdudeParticipantThanks Glenn, keep the great photos coming!
celestialdudeParticipantQuality of food is also important in maintaining their ideal size and colors.
I would recommend some “whole foods” in their diet like tubifex, bloodworms, daphnia, and etc., whether dried, frozen or whole. Nothing beats a good diet!
I just bought some “Sera” brand dried daphnia, looking forward to feeding them that when I’m back from my vacation!
celestialdudeParticipantKatkin, sorry to hear about the disaster. But alas, the circle of life continues despite tragedy! I’m sure you’ll have lots more fry… here’s wishing your fish many generations of abundance!!
celestialdudeParticipantMoved the camera yesterday – it’s now showing the entire tank. Too bad, there’s no wide-screen format so there’s lots of blank space at the top and bottom.
celestialdudeParticipantI am pleased to report that Tigercga is now the new owner of 3 Celestial Pearl Danio fry. Looking forward to updates on these fish, Tiger!
celestialdudeParticipantThanks, I’ve posted this article as a sticky. I’m trying to collect as much news as possible on this fish so that this forum can serve as an archive or repository of everything relating to this fish.
