No jars for bettas  Bettas deserve better! Bettas deserve better! rah!rah!rah!

sorry, one of my pet peeves. My betta lives in a 5 galllon and I’d never dream of putting him in anything smaller. Of course he’s got a few little room mates, but still. How would else would he show himself off if he didn’t have the room to swoop gracefully around? That show-off…

    Yeah, I know, waiting…

I just looked over at my tank from where I’m siting at the computer and there’s this one galaxy, I think it’s male, going crazy. He’s swimming around fast and bouncing his back fin off all the plants.

    Weird. :)

I found two more snails, bringing the total number to six.

Good, as long as they don’t bust up these too!

So katkin, what does a .5 fry look like? Do you have a back end or a front end? :)

Age is my concern too. I’m only 18… :) But I look and act older.

If I ever get fry (waiting, waiting, waiting…) and grow them up I plan to go to smaller stores, as they are more likely to take amatuer-raised fish than big stores I think.

I would phone first, ask to talk to the manager (or whoever is in charge of the fish-buying). I’d ask them if they sell Galaxies. If they do, I’d ask if they are wild-caught. If they say yes, I’d tell them their habitat is being rapidly destroyed (if they don’t already know). If they do know but don’t care I’d tell them that I find that very unethical and probably hang up on them and say I’ll never shop there.

If they did know and feel guilty about it or if they didn’t know, I’d offer to sell them my fishies at a remarkably lower price than those they buy elsewhere (plus mine would be less stressed from travel, and I’d drop them off myself). I’d rather be paid in cash or if nessesary, store credit.

Taking pictures of the fish in your aquarium when they’re looking really nice would probably be a really good thing.

Anyway, that’s my plan if my fish ever stop flirting and get around to the spawning thing…

Wow, those would be pretty. :)

I once got a long-finned white cloud to go with my other white clouds, but it died a week after I got it of cottonmouth

    Thanks Aquaseafoam,
I put Nigle (or her dead body) into a jar of aquarium water just to make sure she’s truly dead before I bury her next to her mate.

They were the only two snails I bought. Now it’s up to those babies to grow up and eat the algae. I’m not buying another snail from the petstore for a while. I don’t know what killed these two, and I wouldn’t want another to suffer the same fate.

Alright. Now I’m really getting worried something’s wrong in the tank. My other snail (Nigle) has died too. :(

At least, I’m pretty sure. It’s been lying on it’s back, slightly open, but when I gave it a little poke everyday it closed up. Now it doesn’t move at all.

The galaxies and baby snails seem fin. The snails I’m not so worried about, but I’d be heartbroken if any of the fish died.

Aww. I’d love to raise your babies, but I’m all the way in Alberta. Not exactly local.

It might not be mynamarish, but I have some medium sized smooth rocks in my tankand my galaxies enjoy hiding behind them and dashing through them as well as the plants. Don’t think they’d spawn there at all, but they’re good space fillers for those waiting for their underwater jungle to grow.

Also, my galaxies like dips in the sand level under a patch of java moss or some other plants where they can rest or circle each other.

I have not seen, nor see any pink stuff above the water level, but I scrubbed up there without really looking recently, before I saw the snails.

They look just like their parents in shape, they are just a pale color with gold. Except one, who is a bit bigger. That one’s mostly brown.

I don’t think they are pest snails. I’ve gotten those before with plants, and actually just found one today. They’re such a nuisance, especially considering how expensive plants are at my local pet store.
I crush them and put them in the other tank with my ever-hungry betta, white clouds and catfish.

The one that died was albino, well really pale yellow more acurately. The other is most brown was stripes, plus a yellow stripe and I swear a bit of green. (it doesn;t come off when I tried to scrub her clean)

I found 2 of the babies on the April 24, then 2 more the next day. The most I’ve seen is 4 at any one time. No, I didn’t see the eggs.

Mating, haha. They first thing my older snail did when I put the new one in was dropping from the glass right down on top of her. Geez.

That’s wonderful! :D I’m so happy for especially you, and the galaxy population in general. Yay :D
