Yes very nice fish. Never seen them for sale anywhere. You don’t breed them as well do you?
Tom2006ParticipantSorry to hear you lost three. How new is your tank? It looks nice in the picture but not mature. CPDs like a mature tank with settled conditions. You really need to get the back and sides covered as well as the stress alone can cause them to stop feeding/get ill etc. I’m sure you’ll get there. Even with three they will breed (as long as you have both sexes…obviously  ) so don’t dispair. My group of five is now up to twelve from breeding them and thats in just a few months. BUT you must get the tank settled. Java moss is perfect try to track down a big clump of that
Tom2006ParticipantVery nice looking fish and pics!
Tom2006ParticipantThey should be fine after about a month.
Tom2006ParticipantAlthough many fish can survive for some time at 30C+ it will often cause them harm and stress and eventually death. If it can be avoided it should but UNLESS the fish in question hails from an environment where they live in such temperatures…i.e discus. I would say keeping cpds and most other danios at such high temps is a recipe for disaster. It speaks volumes for you as a good fishkeeper Dusko that you can keep yours alive.
Tom2006ParticipantHave you seen it then? I think they do because since I put the cpd in with my shrimp the shrimp production is much less. I’ve now transferring some shrimp into their own tank again and will see what the difference is.
Tom2006ParticipantI have no experience of this fish but I personally wouldn’ t risk putting a big shoal in there. cpds are timid fish. If you want to try I’d get a shoal of 5-6 and see how they go.
Tom2006ParticipantSince I’ve grown on a few youngsters I’ve noticed that my original five are becoming much more confident so definitely confidence in numbers for these guys. For what its worth my CPD tank is in a quiet room and the back and sides are darker which they seem to love
Tom2006ParticipantVERY NICE….love the dark background to him
Tom2006ParticipantFrom what I’ve read they pump fresh seatwater straight in and out.
Tom2006ParticipantThey really need more cover. I’d get some backing on the back and sides of the tank ASAP as they are shy at the best of times and will be very stressed in a tank with all sides open. Very nice looking tank though.
Tom2006ParticipantI’ll be giving it a try soon.
Tom2006Participantprobably both still alive. Give them a couple of weeks to settle. Good water changes and good food and they should be fine. I never have open tanks with any species as I’ve lost quite a few fish in the past to jumping
Tom2006ParticipantIs it an open tank? They might have jumped but that would suggest things aren’t right with your tank/water. How long has it been set up? Is the filter mature?
Are you sure they aren’t hiding as they are good at it.
Tom2006Participantnice one. Not sure i’m confusing myself, I was meaning did you surface feed the adults before you removed them?…or did you just give them some time and then removed them?
