    The guy at the store I saw them at said they are one of the most beautiful fish ever when in a planted tank, yet funny enough he had them in a bare tank and they looked awful.

    Many people who have them love them but you have to know what you are looking at in the LFS to appreciate them. I wonder if some people who do know how beautiful they are may also have been put off by the scare that they might be endangered and feel it’s responsible not to get them for display.

    Thanks for the info on keeping CPD and shrimp together, one more question, do the shrimp eat CPD eggs and fry?

    Out of interest do any of the baby shrimp survive long enough to grow up or do they get them all?

    I presume they eat the babies but other than that do you recommend them together?

    It’s true I had been looking for them for ages and I still walked straight past them the first time in the shop. The guy did say they would get them in more often but they are hard to get.

    That is great to know thanks, I live in Portugal and the summers get really hot, it’s only for a week or two at a time but some fish don’t take it well so I was worried about the CPDs.

    lovely pics, the fish look in really good condition.

    Do you notice at all if the CPDs have a hard time with hot weather? I know they tend to prefer it cooler but I can’t find out what is the maximum summer temps they are comfortable with.

    I’d be interested to know if they are different when they are in a tank on their own again.

    I saw them at a LFS recently in a bare tank and they were very washed out looking. The guy said they look fantastic when they settle into a planted tank, from what I read that is normal.
