hi, you are better off returning the males; your better off 3 females to every male. With 4 males to 1 female, they will constantly chase her, stressing her out and it may lead to a death.

Hi, what do you mean by little filter? a sponge filter or a external one. I was lucky enough to get frys from my danios. They were kept in a litre tank with a sponge filter. But after a week or so they all died. I think the reason behind it was because i didn’t do enough water changes.

Congratulations, hope they grow up into their adult form. I never had success in raising the frys into there adult form. Tempted to get back into breeding after seeing these pictures. Good luck with them and keep up posted with their progress.

I suggest setting up a separate when breeding. A sponge air filter will be more than enough. When selecting the fish for breeding i suggest a ratio of three females to one male. A egg catcher is a must if you don’t want any of your eggs to be eaten by the parents as they are known to be notorious egg eaters. Make sure the tank is planted preferably with java moss. I have had great success with Ricca tied to rocks. Every week i would just pick up the rock and shake it in a small containers and eggs would just fall out. But once you see egg you should just remove the parents and put them back in the main tank and leave the other tank to raise the frys. Hope this helps.
