ParticipantParadisefish can be a bit, but not really, mines generally passive he’s just mean to new fish. Rams are fun. but they can be a bit aggressive too.

ParticipantGlofish are colorful, they might not be your thing though, and there illegal in some places.
Fancy guppies are nice pretty fish. Killifish are cool too, a little pricey though. Also you could get rainbow fish or CPD’s. And check out paradise fish they get a nice size and are really pretty.

ParticipantOh haha. How did I not get that one? Yeah I’m stocked up bbs eggs and I’m buying a hatchery thing for like 5 dollars once they are close to being born. Supposively raising the fry is hard, but thats ok I like a challenge

I started work today at the petstore where I handed when out, way back when. And they still are selling the typical 1/2 gallon betta kits (rather inevitable  ) but the holding “cups” are more 5x larger, which is a good start.
It does look good. Just one little comment about that inch per gallon rule, it basically only applies to longish slender cyprind fish (like danios) but you did say general rule of thumb so it’s fine.
Yeah…true, but I wanted people to think of bettas as having needs like other fish. And who would put a fish in a tank, as small as a 2 gallon that isn’t a betta (even if it’s betta sized, minus the tail)? Just doesn’t happen.

Gotcha and totally agree.
And that betta thing your experiencing, happens to me quite alot.

ParticipantAny SW fish?

ParticipantWelcome to the forum.
Breeding should be fine in that tank, raising fry might be a challenge though. You could get a nice amount of CPDs in there though.Crazedpuffer

ParticipantAtlantis I have a topic with most of all my fish, including the male and female praecox, check it out and see if yours match. Also rainbows are easy to breed with similar species so yours could be a hybrid.
