Hmm… yes you are right Ste. Bred varities should not have features which cause handicaps. Same thing with dogs and cats, there are really some lame breeds out there. I think the safest variations we can have are perhaps color and patterning; nothing structural or morphological.
Like a Celestial with blue stripes instead of red!! Haha…
celestialdudeParticipantGot plants in your tank?
celestialdudeParticipantHi Ste,
Good to have you back again. Not much happening here, my 20-gallon tank has been overgrown thanks to the normal CO2 supplementation so I’ve had to do some pruning. My 4 fry in the 5-gallon CPD tank are doing well and getting bigger. Other than that it’s business as usual!
Hope you are doing well and looking forward to your always-interesting posts.

celestialdudeParticipant10-Q, 10-Q berry mush, but a great site and great admin are nothing without great members of course.
celestialdudeParticipantThe members rock because they have been hand-picked from a selection that includes spambots!!!
celestialdudeParticipantIt could work, but off the bat I wouldn’t recommend it — it would almost be like having a bunch of chimps in a lion’s cage, even with lots of trees and vegetation.
You could try it out and see if the Celestials are in a constant state of fear… but I wouldn’t even bother… why subject them to this kind of possible stress? Mine have their own (densely planted) tank and are very happy… with fry co-existing with them.
If you really want to do it, I recommend a much larger tank, at least a 10-gallon. Read this article : http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=96682 (white cloud minnows are close relatives of Celestials in my opinion).
Any other thoughts from other members?
celestialdudeParticipantHaha!! You all are too funny!!!
celestialdudeParticipantToo small… they sprint from end to end quite often in my 20-gallon tank with hardly any effort. 5 gallons would be cramped quarters IMHO.
celestialdudeParticipantHaha you can tell they just moved in, they’ve got that wide-eyed look about them…
celestialdudeParticipantL777 – I fixed your avatar. You uploaded it recently so I missed it. I forgot that some folders get updated by users for things like this. I’m checking over again to see if I missed anything else. Sorry about that… but it’s good that I know what went wrong so it’s not some random bug.
celestialdudeParticipantThere should not have been a second outage. I’m wondering if it’s got to do with the DNS propagation, maybe something got clogged in “the matrix” before it finally settled.
celestialdudeParticipantYes I noticed that too. Hooray!!
celestialdudeParticipantYay awesum!!! That’s 10 CPDs you’ve got there!! Hope they like their new home and hope the breeding goes well!!!
celestialdudeParticipantAww thanks L777… it’s a pleasure running this forum!! Looking forward to many more interesting threads ahead.
