Hi everyone, I just joined. I’ve got a 30 gallon planted tank, and there are a lot of little shrimps. They started breeding, and nothings really stopping them  They do a super good job of cleaning all the excess food though.

But the question is, now that I’ve got cpds, I was wondering if all these little shrimps clean a little too well… will they eat any eggs too?

This forum has been super helpful, by the way. I’ve been reading up on all the useful info for weeks.

Welcome to the forum, teenie, and glad to hear you’re getting them to breed. As for the shrimp, I never got a conclusive answer myself, but it seems like my recent batch is doing much better than when I had shrimp in the tank… so I would conclude that yes, having no shrimp in your fry tank is a good idea.

Well, I was planning on putting them in a separate 10 gallon I’ve got sitting around, so I guess *if* I am successful, I’ll just raise them till they’re big enough and then put them in with the others. =)

Dunno if this helps, but for the longest time I had low success breeding them. Then I did one thing — put the heater on the same electrical timer as the lights, which means that it’s only on in the daytime — and all of a sudden it was babies everywhere. Something that you might like to keep in mind. I guess the day/night temperature variations make them happy.
