My hubby would love to have one, but I’ve managed to convince him to wait until we own our own house and don’t move a round every few years! I don’t mind moving the tropicals, but I don’t fancy trying to keep all those marine critters alive during a long move!

love the first pictures of the 4 gal fw planted w/ shrimp looks really natural.

Yeah, especially the unofficial ‘great at taking pic.’s of aquaria” club…
But seriously, those are awesome tanks.

October 2, 2007 at 1:43 am #12425celestialdudeParticipantYour “mountain scenery” freshwater tank is simply splendid and I hope you make more tanks like that, or post more photos of it. WOW!!!
October 2, 2007 at 1:44 am #12427CrazedpufferParticipantYeah those tanks are amazing
October 2, 2007 at 1:50 am #12429celestialdudeParticipantHey Waterfaller,
I recognize the Ludwigia Repens, the “tall trees” in your “mountain scenery” tank. What are the small-leafed ones on the bottom of the mountains? And the long green-stemmed ones? I also notice you have a moss ball in there, correct?
Love it!!!
October 2, 2007 at 9:25 am #12435waterfaller1ParticipantWow, you are all so nice! Thanks for the nice compliments.
chr15_8~The camera is a cannon G-5. There are better cannons out now. The Rebel is very popular amongst hobbyists, and takes wonderful macro shots that blow my photos away.
The tanks- I am torn. Having never kept any shrimp like this before, I have been researching planted tanks, small tanks, and what fish I could possibly keep. That’s how I found out what a CPD was, someone told me they were good candidates for keeping with the shrimp. Still others think I shouldn’t keep any fish with the shrimp, as they act more at ease without predators swimming overhead. So I have another cube just like this one. I was thinking of doing something similar, but with different type of stone{sieryu} and maybe different higher light plants. I have ordered two 9 wt 6500 K bulbs, to see if they fire up in this little reptile light I have.L777~Babe, sweetie, dear, lady,miss,maam,honey….anything but “dude” The gobies eat mysis shrimp & other foods that I feed. I don’t keep sandsifting gobies, as they will eat all the beneficial infauna from your sandbed…and then generally starve. The pipefish{I have another type as well} are very difficult to care for. I have a refugium, and I add live copepods to it & the main tank every few months & feed them, to insure they are available for my pipefish, and my dragonette{a scooter}
celestial dude~ludwigia repens is the tall background stem plant, the green stringy one in the middle is dwarf sagittaria, the one in the front is referred to as HC~Hemianthus callitrichoides .I don’t think I have enough light for it, if it makes it until I get the 2nd tank set up I will put it there. Yes, the moss ball is a marimo ball, a curious thing. It doesn’t need much light, just to be turned. I turn it every day. There is also Taiwan & Christmas moss in the tank. I am waiting for dosing stuff to arrive, then I will begin dosing small amounts of Seachem products.
Thanks again everyone. :wink:October 2, 2007 at 8:24 pm #12437L777ParticipantWaterfaller,
again to your tanks: WOW! (Sorry for any offense: My “dude!” was more of an exclamation than an address) Thanks for the explanation. I was curious how you kept the pipefish and dragonette fed — sounds like your ‘pod and supplement diet is working out.Keep the great px coming, ma’am! We love ’em!
