Mine bred at 80f but i think this is well too high as i have loads of infertile eggs and can only see 6 fry in a bare tank?? I am going to try them in a cooler tank.

The fry in my tanks have been appearing in 26.5-28C (80-82F), although this is several degrees higher than what is listed for their native habitat. From all accounts, they seem very adaptable, with optimal temperatures around those that are comfortable for the faces on the outside of their tanks.

I suggest a heater no matter what.

mine were down to about 67 for a week or so and seemed quite active and happy, still ate and were visable. i since have added a heater to keep them around 75 for the winter. will probably turn it off once it starts warming up.
