Can anyone tell me an online source for tank-bred CPDs in America? Is anyone on this forum willing to sell some to me? They’ll have a great home!

not sure where you’re located. If you’re anywhere near Minnesota (USA), and you haven’t found any CPDs yet by late November-ish, check with me — I should have a pile of fry ready to start another generation by then (they’re only 1.5 weeks old now, not ready for moving — barely big enough to see ). If you’re not near me, then maybe one of the other folks in our group here? Shipping fish overnight is expensive to post them (at least in the ‘States) with their water, but many people to it (check out all the sales at aquabid.com!). Shipping any slower is sure to kill them. Next best thing is your local fish club.Welcome to the group, and good luck finding some of these jewels so you can push your nose against the glass with the rest of us!!

They’re $6.50 per with $25 overnight shipping. I bought 6 a month ago to add to my 6 wild-caught, and they’re great. Arrived in perfect condition. They’re listed as Galaxy Rasbora’s  Now have a school of 12 and they seem to be happy. Still very skittish, like to hide, but I see a lot of activity from them now.
edited to update link (thanks L77)
October 18, 2007 at 1:46 am #12641L777ParticipantI just checked a bit ago, and aquariumfish.net amended their placement of CPDs under the danios as CPDs rather than under the rasboras (they might have gotten a tip from a CPD.com forum member  ).
Here’s the new link:

October 18, 2007 at 4:34 am #12648celestialdudeParticipantOh wow thx for that link, L777. At $6.50 a fish, that’s quite steep, but fair considering the status of the species. I hope more people breed them seriously so we can have more healthy specimens of these beauties.

I paid $12 canadian for each, and considering that the American dollar is near the same as ours now, I’d consider that quite the bargain!

October 19, 2007 at 1:25 am #12668CrazedpufferParticipantWow. I got my first 3 for $10 all together.
October 21, 2007 at 8:03 pm #12701L777ParticipantJust to make you all feel better: I paid $25 each for my first two (store credit from all the ancistrus I turn in, but still…). By the time the next batch came in, they were down to $10 each — and this time the clerk knew me and only charged me for half of them!
October 27, 2007 at 2:09 pm #12793foopeyParticipantThanks for the welcome, L777.
I paid about $8 apiece in early Feb. for my first 6 from Anubias Design. I think $6.50 is a decent price, and now you know that it’s a reputable dealer
October 27, 2007 at 7:39 pm #12796ste12000ParticipantDont know how the Dollar compares to the british pound but i paid £20 for five wild fish in the spring, just as it came out that they were overfished in the wild. These turned out to be all males, i sourced some females from Pete Liptrot and Paul Dixon and paid £18 for five females. I have since lost a few due to them jumping from my uncovered tank
Luckily i am now breeding them and can pass them onto other UK breeders.November 15, 2007 at 1:50 am #12962TeelieParticipantCorys R Us is where I got mine. Came in yesterday small but healthy. Clearly tank bred from the size so they’re well adapted to tank living.
December 2, 2007 at 3:24 am #13076steveh28Participanthttp://www.franksaquarium.com/danios.htm has them for $6. i got my first 6 for $8.95 from the lfs in may, and got 2 more females two weeks ago for $5.50 from the same store. i am qutie sure they were wild caught, but they didnt know what they were the first time and then the wholesaler just dumped the last batch on them, as they didnt want to order any wild ones. apparently the wholesaler couldnt unload them so they just sent them out to stores.[/url]
January 25, 2008 at 12:30 am #13363waterfaller1ParticipantI second http://www.franksaquarium.com/ ,he has lots of other rare & hard to find fish too. I still have not decided my whole order yet, and It’s been cold there so I have to wait anyway…
