    Good afternoon everyone,

I’m curious to hear if anyone has tried any shallow water breeding tanks, like 4-6 inch water depth. Ultimately my thought is to try something like an “underbed” storage container with plenty of room and mossy areas for multiple breeders in one shallow and inexpensive container. I think this could also serve as a nice growout tank for fry.

Has anyone tried this, or have some thoughts as to why it would or would not work?

Hi sdylanh, welcome to the forum.

I believe it will work just fine. I’ve never used the containers you speak of, but I do use the 5.5 gallon Tetra tanks for most of my CPD breeder set-ups. These tanks are only 10 inches tall and I often find I only have 6 or 7 inches of water in them.

Best of luck with your breeding project! Please keep us informed as to how it works out.

    Dennis
