Fighting BBA — so what are your “weapons” of choice?
Tank looks good to me. The chocolates were the first thing to catch my attention!

My fishy pics can be found on:

I put 1 female and 2 male into my tank last night. It was my first attempt at breeding them in this new setup. When I came in from work this evening I was amazed to find an egg on the floor of the tank. I quickly scooped out the danios and shook the spawning mops.
On my first go it would seem that I managed at least 6 eggs.
Not an enormous number I know, but I think they snacked on them whilst I was at work.
My only picture is quite bad, but its a mobile phone pic… so for that its good!
October 31, 2007 at 9:23 pm #12858maximumbobParticipantwoohoo.. the above egg has hatched into a very small little fry.
I’ve added some liquifry No. 1, and installed my air powered biofoam filter this morning.
I wonder how many will have hatched by then???
November 1, 2007 at 1:38 am #12871L777ParticipantMany congrats!! Keep us posted…
November 1, 2007 at 10:35 am #12875maximumbobParticipanti now have a grand total of 2 fry lol
Not earth staggering amounts… but I am still pleased that I had a result after my first attempt.
Now I just have to figure out how to house these growing fry as I try to breed again.
November 5, 2007 at 9:25 pm #12915maximumbobParticipantwell the final fry count is three. They are free swimming from today and seem to be doing ok.
I’ve ordered some smaller tanks I can fit side by side so I can grow them on a bit whilst I try breeding again.. one of my females looks very fat atm.
November 6, 2007 at 10:19 pm #12925maximumbobParticipantWhen I said final.. i actually thought it was.. but nature has a wonderful way of surprising you.
4 free swimming fry noticed today. So 4 out of 6 in a first attempt. I’m happy. With my new equipment coming, I will be trying again soon
November 14, 2007 at 9:40 pm #12958maximumbobParticipantthe four fry are now approaching 1cm long and are happy and active swimmers. They are doing well on liquifry ad I will be trying them with BBS eggs soon.
I have purchased enough equipment for 2 more breeding tanks, so I’ll be making a concerted effort for a big spawn soon.
November 20, 2007 at 6:05 pm #12997maximumbobParticipantDISASTER!!!
I’ve had a bizarre ammonia spike in my breeding tank. My four fry died!!
I’m seriously gutted.
I haven’t a clue what happened to cause the spike. I have transferred the fish into a small tank, but the water and filter were the same.
I cleaned the new tank big time. I even sterilised it with a steam cleaner! (no additives obviously)
I think i’ll be investigating a little more before I try again
November 22, 2007 at 1:03 am #12998celestialdudeParticipantGot plants in your tank?
