Parents and babies???

Hello everyone, I’m new to this forum and i have quite a few questions. My first is how long before the babies are too big to eaten by their parents? I would like to keep their parents with them as soon as possible due to some of the other fish in my tank. (I have a divider system type set up) Thanks for the help!
I have successfully reared fry by leaving them in the parents tank (as I am doing now) the parents don’t seem to be interested in eating them and leave them to themselves. Don’t know if this is just my set-up but I have now done this in 2 separate tanks with no adverse effects. The only problem was the eating of eggs when in the smaller tank.
