If you look hard enough I’m sure you could find the tubs. Just an idea but do you have hand car washes in the states? I’m sure they’d be happy to hand their detergent drums over!!
I’m in the army and we use detergent for cleaning the vehicles and the drums sit around for months before the recyclers will pick them up since they have to be disposed of properly nowadays. The amount of things you have to store since hygene, health & C.O.S.H.H regulations came into play I’m sure anyone would be glad to have the space instead of the junk.If I remember Tom your in Yorkshire so you’ll be waiting longer than me since I’m a Yorkshireman (Bridlington) living in Dorset nowadays so if your gonna do it we’ll have to keep in touch and see how it goes.

Deffo have to keep in touch, there just don’t seem to be many of us CPD keepers/breeders…sadly

It was warm enough to sit out in a T-shirt yesterday but this morning I had to de-ice the car so we’re a little way off yet. :roll:March 2, 2010 at 11:40 pm #14308Tom2006ParticipantI think the main problem with these fish is that in the dealer tanks they do look terrible. If I hadn’t done some research prior to seeing them in my local MH I would never have spent £4 per tiny little fish. One of the best buys I made though! Agree about the weather, very hit and miss at the moment. Another month though and spring will be here for sure.

Hey that’s a great idea. I’ll have to check them out. I’ve even got a mate that runs a car wash!

Strange though since I’ve been around all day and all I’ve seen is 1 Zebra chasing about a CPD and I haven’t seen any more at all. I do have alot of plants in there and a couple of rocks but I’m beggining to wonder???
The only thing I can think is they’re hiden very well or the corys have had a massive breakfast.March 4, 2010 at 9:35 pm #14312Tom2006ParticipantWere the CPDs in with the zebras before? The corys wont touch the cpds unless they are not well. Are the water parameters the same in both tanks? CPDS like stability.
March 22, 2010 at 2:54 pm #14349ferreterParticipantWell I’m glad thats sorted, no more problems in the tank, fish are all happy & I saw some Erythromicron yesterday and coudn’t help myself so now I have 100l with 7CPD’s, 8/9Zebras & 3 Bronze Cory’s.
2 fancy goldfish in the kitchen and a 250l barrel in the garden with a solar powered air pump, loads of plants & 7 WCMM hopefully breeding like flies. I’m gonna leave them until the weathers real nice then replace them with a couple of my prized danio’s (if I have any luck with the minnows)May 17, 2010 at 8:22 pm #14435JohnZParticipantI live in southern Ontario Canada, and I tried the outdoor project in big styrofoam containers.
I used White Cloud Minnows, both the common and longfin varieties started it in early May, and they just THRIVED!!!
The containers contained play sand with basic tiny grade gravel, planted with Dwarf and Giant hair grass, and willow moss. They bred like crazy, and i fed them once or twice a week with flake food but for the most part they ate the insect larvae and nymphs found through the system.
As someone mentioned in a previous post, some of the fish in our hobby are much more hardier than we give them credit for. I brought in the adults and surviving fry in October. When i went to drain the container in early December after we’ve already gotten a few nights below freezing to my surprised I missed about 5 fish all still alive!
I am going to try it this year with my celestial fry once i get them. Hope it all goes good!
