i personaly would not add any fish to a breeding tank in you wish to spawn and raise in the same tank.

if you look at ste’s video he removes the breeding couple and moves them into another tank.

mine where very shy at the start but have became alot more friendly over the last month

today before i feed my cpd’s i put my hand on the glass and one came over followed by another and just looked at me (took about 3/4 months) its the first time they have done it

as the plants have reached almost full hieght of the tank they have started to explore more of the tank at the top (again took them about 3/4 months)

hi everyone, im new to this website (thank you to the person who set it up, excellent job :D )
iv had CPD’s since Febuary and havnt had a spawning yet. i will put this down to the fact that the tank isnt a mimic of their natural habitat; as a student i dont have the funds so its harder for me to buy expensive plants.

this is my CPD tank at the moment:
80litre tank
23degrees centegrade
eheim eco 2236 (intake is covered with a sponge) plus internal filter that came with the juwel tank
part planted with java moss ball
little/no subsrate on the bottom
wood area for hiding out
11 CPD (4females/7males)
2 oto’s

i know that i need a lot more plants for cover; as these are wild caught CPD id imagine they are more sensitive about their environment than F1’s etc. i am going to try RO unit, as it was given to me at a shop (right place, right time i told my self lol) to see if the hardness of the water is having an effect on the lack of breeding activity!
some of the CPD dont look like they eat as all, others are fattened up nicely. obviously not optimum breeding when not fat and healthy so this could be a reason also.

any comments are welcome :D :D :D
