new here – breeding age question

Hello All, just found this awesome website. I tried searching and couldn’t find the answer. Can anyone tell me how long or size before cpd start to breed? I’ve gotten mine from my lfs for a few months now and everyday, i look for fry (read they breed very often) and couldn’t find any. 25 gallon, pretty heavily planted tank with lots of java moss. wondering when i can see some fry thanks!!

They don’t really grow much more than 2cm so once at this size they will spawn. You should see some fry unless the adults are ace at eating them all. CPDs LOVE to eat their own eggs and fry

They can start spawning at 12 weeks old. That’s one of the reasons they use Danios in genetic research, they can get 3 to 4 generation in a years time.

Tom is most likely correct – they are eating all the eggs and/or fry.
