hey everyone! like the subject line says, i am new here. i’ll be getting some galaxys pretty soon. maybe 25 or so? i was thinking about housing them in a 29 gallon asian biotope along with a group of a dozen or so choprai danios. (overstocked a little? maybe. i’ll keep up with the water changes) the tank would consist mainly of cryptocoryne species and a good portion of java moss.
i dont think i will breed these guys in this tank. i might try the tubbing idea in the summer months. ive known people who have had really good experiences with cichlids and rainbowfish out in tubs and ponds. hopefully it works out for me as well.

If you set up the tank you describe, you might actually have a difficult time *not* breeding them!
I’ve been looking for other Minnesotans with CPDs — let me know if you’re anywhere near the Minneapolis/St Paul area, and we could get connected sometime.

well, i got my first batch of CPD 3 days ago. really nice fish-wild caught-i got them from a friend. and today, i just got another batch from one of my LFS. 25 fish total. they are still in QT at the moment. i am still in the process of setting up their new home and getting their new tankmates.
well, yesterday i received a group of wild choprai. really really beautiful fish. they are in QT at the moment and are being treated for any potential parasites. still in the process of setting up their new home. i may start a separate thread on the setup. maybe even with pics. keep an eye out for it!
