Am I the only one that names my fish? Well, the ones I can tell apart. THe white clouds all look the same, and the neons too, except for one, two of the male platies, and the two galaxy females.

    20 gallon community tank:

    Peppered catfish: Chewy
    Panda catfish: Bandit
Mutant neon with one bulging eye: Popeye
Mutant, “Lepard” zebra danio (spotteed, not striped): Spotty
Mutant zebra danio with bad spine: Kinky
    Male, unknown sp. rainbowfish: Aurora
    Female, praecox rainbowfish: Indy
    Betta: Aquila

    10 gallon Galaxy tank:

    Male: Mathias

    22 Gallon Platy/Part community tank:

    Betta: Rexy
Dominat and patchy colored male platy: Apollis
    Normal Female: Amber
Weird Female (gave birth then turned truly male?): Jesse
Bronze catfish: Not yet named…I was thinking ‘mouse’, maybe. But I know he’ll get bigger. Suggestions?

Once I named a balloon mollie xena for the big chest lol, back when that show was popular. I mostly like species tanks and only a few you can pick out.

naming fish is like making friends in war..one day there zippin around the next could be disaster. don’t get too attached.

but ya’ll can do what you will, what ever floats your boat.
jus don’t expect your fish to be making up names for you ok

Yeah, well if they did, it’d probably be like “That big thing that doesn’t feed me as much as I want, and redecorates my home and gives me new room mates without my consent.”

I’d rather not know what my fish think of me.

    Yah serious Puffer?

If so, just, uh, wow…Now tell me you’re kidding, Ok? :D

alpha (a) in Greek is “ah”, like in all. Only Yanks like me brutalize a into a nasal aaaaa (sounds even better when a Brit mimics the way we say it!).

omicron (o) in Greek is I think formally supposed to be a shorter o than its big brother omega (o-micron = tiny/micro o, o-mega = giant/mega o), but I’ve also read that even by a couple thousand years ago, their pronunciations were blurring together toward the long o.

I’d say “tall-ose” (without biting the long o too hard — it is the micron-o) with emphasis on the first syllable, but that’s mostly a guess. If I found it spelled in Greek, then there would be accent marks to help with the emphasis.

Thanx. Sounds nice, and easy to say. Like to scold the fish when it does something bad.

Ex. “Aquila! Stop eating! You’ll get constipated again!!!”

Yeah, sometimes I talk to my fish. Better than talking to one’s plants, or pet rocks…
