    Hello!

While I was doing research on egg layer fish, I’ve seen that people are putting a layer of marbles on bottom of the tank.. I did try to put some mesh on the bottom to my CPD’s, but didn’t get good results with it, I think marbles can do the trick..

    Any thoughts on this info?

ps: looks like the forum has just changed. :)

Hi GaMeR, welcome to the forum!

Marbles are typically used for “egg scatters” like many of the other Danios, Zebra, Leopard, etc. Since CPD’s spawn differently marbles don’t work as well.

Yes the forum has changed, thanks for noticing. It was way past time to update to a “more current” version of phpBB.

    Thanks for the welcome, Dennis.

I used a fine mesh on the bare bottom of my aquarium to prevent CPD eating the eggs. But the marbles seems like a more permanent solution than a mesh. I couldn’t find a thick mesh so 3-4 times the adults swim under it. What’s wrong wit the marbles?

Typically when you use marbles with the egg scattering Danios, the breeders are only in the tank over night and the following morning. With such a short stay you don’t have problems with detritus collecting between the marbles and causing the eggs to fungus. I’m very interested to see how this works out, please keep us posted.

I got some 5g plastic containers today. I’m gonna try the marbles method in one of them. I don’t know how it will work out though. I’ll use marbes in bottom, moss on top of that. After this try, maybe I can use small dose of medication for fungus.
