Hi everyone!
Since people don’t know where to post first, here is where you can introduce yourself. Where abouts you live, how you got here, your tanks, anything you want all of us at the awesome forum to know really. Within realistic limits of course.
I’m not new, but here goes. Feel free you other older members to post too. So people can get a better idea of who we are.
I’m a 18 year old female living in Alberta, Canada. I used to have five galaxies, from way back around last february. Due to unforunate events I lost two, then three. The first two died of jumping while I was away. I had no sort of cover at that time…
Keep your tank covered!!! Thems can be jumpers.
I have a fish-less 10 gallon tank waiting for the domestic breds I’m getting tomorrow.
I also have a 20 gallon community tank with zebra danios, rainbowfish, neon tetra, a peppered catfish, a panda catfish, and a very self important Betta. He’s the king of the tank really.
It’s being converted from a slate looking tank with 2 decent looking plastic plants to a planted tank. Plants from my old galaxy tank, which has gone plastic. Too hard to try to breed with so much maintenance.
Also got a 22 gallon dwarf sunset breeding tank. It’s got 6 platies. A mesh breeding trap with 2 fry. Was a very small brood. Seems like it was a male turned femal, that gave birth this once. Very strange.
Oh well, one female will give birth any day now (in a seperate part of the tank) , and there’s another female about two weeks or more in I believe.
Aso got a beautiful crowntail betta, a bronze catfish and 3 white clouds in there right now.
I work at a family-owned petstore in the fish room. Best job ever!
Only bad thing is that I see all these wonderful fisk coming in, but can’t buy bescause of limited aquarium space. The 20% off discount comes in handy for other fish stuff. He he…
I also like beading, sewing and knitting. Trying to make enough stuff for an upcoming craft fair. Enjoy martial arts and running too.
Your turn…

November 3, 2007 at 4:09 pm #12888katkinParticipantHello everyone, I’m a 34, got 4 kids and 5 fish tanks, 1 dog, 2 cats and bottom of the priority list is my very understanding husband. Goodness knows how he puts up with me! But then, he’s in the forces, so not home much anyway. (besides, he bought me my first tank. Little did he know that it would trigger a severe case of mts-multiple tank syndrome)
I have a 190L corner tank which is a planted community with a couple of plecs, cardinal tetras, albino corydoras, zipper loach, betta (until I can rehome him or find another freebee tank for him)
4ftx1ftx15″ low light planted tank housing my 18 wild cpd’s, a dozen pygmy cories and 8 amano shrimp
(2 X) 2ftx1ftx1ft grow out tanks for cpd fry.
8″x12″ spawning tank.
So far one grow out tank has around 30+ fry at 7weeks old. The other has a similar number of fry less than a week old. I think I might divide these two tanks, giving me 4 sections for different size fry and possibly to seperate the sexes once old enough.
To help pay for my obsession, I work part time in a local farm shop/butchers
I think that’s about it.
One other thing, anyone wanting to swap cpd fry when ready, I’m more than happy to do so. Like for like.
I’m in Berkshire near Reading, UK.K

November 4, 2007 at 8:48 pm #12901ste12000ParticipantHi all, regular users might already know a bit about me but here it go’s..
As you might of guessed my name is Steven i am just turned 30 and still have a full head of hair  , i am married and have been for ten years, i have two lovely children, Ben who is 10 and football mad and Kelsey who is 6 and loves dancing and also crafts and fishes. My wife is currently pregnant with our third child(Not planned  ) so we are looking forward to another little girl next spring. I wanted to call her Guppy but the wife and kids have settled on Grace and that sounds nice, guppy can be her second name  I work full time and am currently doing well in both private and working life.Right onto my hobby, i have been interested in fish ever since i can remember, i have recollections of wading ankle deep catching sticklebacks as a 5 year old and digging small ponds in my Grandads back garden to keep them in, i also remember receiving a book on freshwater fish around the age of 10 and it became my bible. As soon as i was old enough i asked for fishing equipment and set of into the big bad world, friends and i used to fish for perch and roach using huge hooks and even larger worms, needless to say we didnt catch much but the time spent in the open next to a pond, river or lake was priceless and very rewarding.I continued fishing until this summer 2007 and over the years became very competent at it, i sold my fishing equipment this year to help pay for my fishkeeping expansion.
My first tanks arrived at the age of around 15, my auntie had two 3ft tanks on the old steel 2 tier frames, i was facinated by the neon tetras which just shone compared to the dull native fish i was used to seeing, pearl gouramis were another fish i can remember being amazed by.
Eventually my Auntie wanted to get rid of the tanks and i scraped, borrowed and used all my savings to aquire the tanks, they took pride of place in my bedroom and stayed with me for 5 years until i moved into my own home. The tanks saw all sorts of fish from guppies and platy’s to barbs, tetras and gouramis. I also kept a Oscar for three years that i grew from a 2 inch juvenile to a 12inch eating machine.
I moved into my own home when i was 20 and started a family early, for two years i had no tank as other things were happening, i then pursuaded my wife to let me have a small 2ft tank in the living room, My angelfish soon outgrew this and it soon turned into a 180litre Juwel tank with inbuilt filtration and lighting, then there came another 100litre to grow on angelfish fry and another in the kids room to breed Kribs, then another four small tanks in the kids alcove to breed tetras and pencilfish…
Soon after the four breeding tanks went in i realised i had a problem, i didnt want to see a counciler or attend self help meetings so i decided to lock myself in the shed, i emerged two days later with a silly look upon my face….Thats right! i had a fish room. I now have a total of 27 tanks of various sizes and i think it works out to around 1200 litres in total, i keep and breed many different types of fish but my first love is south American fish especially SA Dwarf cichlids, i have bred a total of 38 species of fish and kept many many more.
I also use the forums so i am certain i will see you all around and about, dont be afraid to get in touch as i love to make contact with other fishkeepers all over the world and share info and gossip about the hobby.
See you around…SteNovember 6, 2007 at 10:25 am #12918CrazedpufferParticipantI’m Rocco

November 6, 2007 at 8:13 pm #12920L777ParticipantHi everybody!
My name’s Dean. I’m 38, and live out in the prairies of the middle of North America. Our ecology includes my wife, our two daughters, a Westie (Scottish West Highland Terrier), a calico cat, and a growing population of finned young ‘uns! We home educate our daughters. The oldest is out running a blanket drive for local homeless people this month — it gets fiercely cold here on the flatlands in the wintertime, global warming notwithstanding. The breeding fish are fancy guppies, bushynose plecos, CPDs, and a surprise small hatch of praecox rainbows.
The “not yet breeding” fish are marbled hatchets, cardinal tetras, sterbai corys, hillstream loaches (Schistura cf balteata; Botia(?) sidthimunki; kuhlis), and a bunch of swirl-striped fancy plecos — 1M/2F L-401’s and 4 L-66 King Tigers (1 of which may be L-333?). If the king tigers or L-401’s breed, I hope to add a breeding trio of L-46 to the family. The girls’ tanks also have cherry shrimp, Endlers guppies, and kribensis cichlids, with aspirations to breed the shrimp and the kribs.
It’s been a pleasure to be welcomed into this forum. Thanks to all for being and building such a great online community here!

November 23, 2007 at 3:14 am #13010EggEmParticipantHi! I’m L777’s daughter. I’ll be 11 years old in a few more days and try to get out of as many chores as possible  I’m home schooled and LOVE watching my fish. I have a 5 gallon tank with a school of CPD’s, 3 adorable baby cory’s, and a pair of adult pleco’s (male chocalate, Female Teminikii.) I also have a 1 gallon tank with 3 cherry shrimp, including pregnant female. I’m so excited! I can’t wait ’till my fish start breeding! I used to have a pair of Krib’s and 2 male endler guppies, (before the CPD’s) but I traded them with my dad for the CPD’s. I guess that’s all I have to say. Bye!
November 27, 2007 at 6:46 pm #13043chadlyParticipantChad here, I’m from mid-michigan (lansing area). I’m 29 years old and married now for 2 years, have a 3 year old son and a 46 day old daughter. I started keeping fish in 2002. I keep 7 tanks as of now, w/ several others empty waiting for fry. My fish loves include; piranha, plecos, small catfish, central and south american cichlids, as well as tetras.
I haven’t known about Galaxy rasboras – OOPS!! did I just type that – I mean Celestial danios for only a few months now. I first heard about them on another forum. They didn’t intrigue me until about two months ago when I they had finally made it within my reach. I keep 11 of them in a 3 gal eclipse tank at the moment. I intend on splitting them up into smaller groups and breeding them soon.
I hope to get to know some of you and will keep posting up w/ questions and experiences of my endeavor.
December 9, 2007 at 8:39 pm #13101resowner92Participanthi my name is Neil, i am 15 years old and i live in Southern California.
right now i am just a turtle keeper. My 2 RES are living in a 60gal tank with about 7 endlers and 1 fry that i just recently found swimming in my filter and what used to be anacharis . Pretty soon my dad and i are going to be building a pond for them in our backyard which will be around 500 gals.
Also i am starting my first planted tank up in a 20gal long which i will be set up after christmas. When that is done cycling i am going to get some wild caught CPD’s from this guy on the plantedtank.net website and i will start breeding them.
