I know the pics aren’t the sharpest but I thought I would take some snap shots something got into one of the young males and he thought he would try to move up in ranks he took on the dominant male for hours in displays literally

This female got caught peeking and the dominant male chased her away

I do feed them a little of everything I use flake, sinking staplefood pellets some frozen food: brine shrimp almost every day but lightly a cube for several tanks, some plankton, emerald entree (mix of animal and vegetable),glassworm less often and a frozen cichlid mix only because it was left over. They also seem to like the hikari shrimp cuisine as well, and of course their own fry  I also find they tend to be more colourful during displays. The pictures were taken in my display tank

Most of the males in this tank are hand picked f1, one of the fish in the pictures was my oldest (wild caught in 2007)

It is a madagascar lace plant it is struggling a little right now because of the heat of summer leaves seem to deform when the water hits 80F

Thanks I used shutter speed of 1/25 if you consider that with rapid movement involved they are pretty sharp given the circumstances and camera settings

lovely pics, the fish look in really good condition.

Do you notice at all if the CPDs have a hard time with hot weather? I know they tend to prefer it cooler but I can’t find out what is the maximum summer temps they are comfortable with.

They don’t have any problem in the in the heat I have kept them anywhere from 74-82 f in my tanks but myanmar can get pretty hot, I would expect the water would be in at least the high 80’s seasonally you probably would not want to keep them at that temp all the time it may shorten the life span

That is great to know thanks, I live in Portugal and the summers get really hot, it’s only for a week or two at a time but some fish don’t take it well so I was worried about the CPDs.
