September 22, 2007 at 10:58 pm #12273ste12000ParticipantThanks a lot guys/girls and chris….Only kiddin mate. Thanks
I bought 4 secondhand 18x18x12 tanks for use as growing on tanks,I got them CHEAP,CHEAP,CHEAP, the girl who was selling was local to me and advertised on ebay, she was going to uni and needed to shut down the majority of her 18 tank fishroom. iv told her to contact me if she sells anymore tanks this size. I had the tanks for a week or two but there was no point in putting them into the shed side which was uninsulated and had no flooring. So my fishroom now measures 11ft x 6ft it is completly insulated with 2inch polystyrene sheets and will have a laminate floor all the way through. The walls are painted white with a smooth waterproof masionary paint, and the tank racks are made with 2 1/2 inch planed redwood.
It will eventually contain upto 35 smallish tanks with a total water volume of 1000litres or 264 gallons…I also have two display tanks inside the house….What shed were you looking at chris?? Let me know what sort of size and your price range and ill help you scan the net see how cheap we can get one for, im lucky as i work in a builders merchant and get a good discount on building materials, plus my company have just taken over a garden center and i took full advantage and bought a big water butt for half price
It can be done fairly cheaply if you do it in bits, also try and breed some expensive fish and it should pay for itself..Mine has upto now.September 23, 2007 at 12:34 am #12276chr15_8Participantcheers
ive been looking at a 7ft long x 5ft wide (with door on the 5 ft) and a 6ft long by 4ft wide (door on the 4ft bit).
im likly to go for the 7ftx5ft (convinced my mum just my dad to convice that all the stuff behind the other shed is rubbish)
7ftx5ft – £205 – gardenbuildingsdirect.co.uk
6ft x 4ft – £165.96 – argoshope you had a good day today

do you how much a 8x4ft sheet of 0.95(ish)mm ply and a 8×4 slap of polystryene?(sp.) would cost at regular cost?

(its the same seller  )

September 23, 2007 at 10:22 pm #12297ste12000ParticipantThats the one chris, iv got my eye on these and will be bidding..I got the other 4 for £31 which work out roughly £7.50 each.. BARGAIN
Im back in work tomorrow and ill get you a price on poly and ply to give you an idea, its not expensive though, iv used 9mm ply (£8.00 sheet)
and 2inch thick polystyrene (£3.80 8x4sheet) for the large side of my shed 6×6 iv used 4 poly and 5 ply and will need a offcut from work to complete the roof.
All in with paint and wooden flooring the larger side has cost £150, but the fish iv sold in the last month has covered this so im not out off pocket at all. Ill carry on raising fish and they will pay for new tanks late this year or early next year…September 24, 2007 at 6:32 pm #12299chr15_8Participantcheers
i think im using chipboard now, might not be as good but will be thicker and about half the price.
