Hello everyone. I have 12 adult celestial pearl danio’s. I’ve had them for some time in a small aquarium, and moved them a while ago to a larger aquarium (80x40x40cm) where they live together with a couple of Honey Gourami’s and an uncountable number of shrimps:)
I had 4 fry after I moved the adults, which are now almost adult themselves, but they stay a bit smaller then the original fish I had.
Shen cleaning up my tank I removed a lot of common duckweed which was becoming a pest, or so I thought. I collected the duckweed in a bucket to see if I hadn’t cought any shrimp or snails (I’m a bit weakhearted…) and discovered two tiny eyes… and loads more!
I have collected about 50 fry and put them in my tiny fishtank. But, now what! What can I best feed them, since I’d like them not to stay smallish like the previous four fish.I feed them liquifry and water from a ditch. (I checked for visible pests). What should I feed them further?

I feed my CPD fry with a very fine powdered fry food, although being in a mature tank there is plenty of natural food in the java moss and in the detritus on the sand.

The little tank in which they are now also has loads of snails and shrimp. I’m a bit afraid the little fish won’t be able to get to the food before the shrimp do… Catching the shrimp really is no option:S I now tend to overfeed a bit, so there’s enough for everyone. The shrimp and snails are very good cleaners.
Do you think it is enough to feed them just the liquifry 1 and powdered granulate? This is what I did last time, and the four cpd’s I raised then stayed rather smallish.
I now ‘added’ a bit of ditch water, but is this a good idea? I the risk for pests to great, or not?August 1, 2008 at 10:55 pm #13754albatrossParticipantCongrats on your fry. I have found the best way to feed these tiny fry is by Liqifry,Micro worms,Paramecia,Inforsoria and VERY fine flake. I have raised several broods using this method. You could try banana worms as these are small. Good luck, i wish you every success in you endeavours.

I’m afraid I’m loosing some fry to hydra:S
