OK, I’m new to fish breeding, so…

Is it really a problem that fry in general get sucked into power filters?

I guess they just “go with the flow”?

Is it just a matter of adjusting the flow rate so it’s low enough that they can fight against it and break free?

I’ve adjusted mine to the lowest flow rate. It’s the Aquaclear 30, I think that means it’s for up to 30 gallons (my tank is 20). Hopefully that will help? Or not really?

Any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

You can cut a hole in a filter sponge to fit over the intake, or cut a piece of pantyhose and rubberband it over the intake.
Personally I wouldn’t risk not covering it with fry. Maybe others have successfully done so.

my eheim ecco pumps about 300 lph and ive turned it down to about half so it pumps about 150lph

i have to admit i dont cover my inlet at all however i have considerd using pantyhose/tights

but i do have 15 little fry swimming about in my fry that i have caught and placed in there

the filter dont seem to be very powerfull on the setting i have yet when i try to catch the fry the seem very strong swimmers
