Iv just locked the shed up with my tape measure inside so cant check on the tape but from what you say then it looks ok, as you know i work in a builders merchant and sawmill, we make shiplap and it should do the job fine especially with good insulation.
I would be tempted to go a little bit longer than 2.1 meters as there is never enough room within a fishroom, room to turn around and manuver buckets ect is always nice. I got you a price from work and in my place you are looking at
£9.70 sheet of 9mm WBP ply (waterproof) for internal use covering insulation.
£3.80 sheet of 25mm polystyrene
£4.80 sheet of 50mm polystyrene

Obviously you cannot buy from my work but it will give you an idea, also budget for the following…Sealants, paint (i use B&Q smooth masonary), screws, felt for roof, some kind of flooring,wood or metal racking, shelving,various brackets, airlines…ECT…

I dont want to put you off but there are numerous things you will need to complete the job. Please dont rush to get tanks in when there are building jobs left to do, my mate put all his tanks into the racks straight onto a concrete floor without andding insulation, in the winter all the cold came through the floor and his heating bill was horrendous. I learnt from his mistake and used polystyrene tiles under a laminate floor, i can work barefoot if i like because the fishroom is nice and cosy without using tons of heat, my radiator is only on for half of the day now and keeps the room a steady 80-88f…
When you put your insulation into the wall cavitys make sure every inch is covered, push peices into the smallest gaps and it will work well, remember in our winter it can go down to minus 10 if not lower, we still need to keep a steady 75-80f in our tropical tanks.
As i said i dont want to put you off but please think about every stage of construction carefully and build a strong structure. Any questions dont hesitate to ask…

Miines in my celler but what i did could be applyed you a shed, i insulated the outside wall and inside wall (10cm outside 5cm inside 10cm celing) what youll have to do seeing as yours is outside also put a minimum of 10cm under your shed too (i used Sturodur, dont know what its called in english but its a very hard polystyrene). Make sure youve got an extra fuse box for your shed. Now my shelving is made from untreated wood, dont seal the wood as wood works and if its sealed and a crack and water gets in, it has no way out so will start to rot the wood from the inside.

i will be getting expanding foam for any little gaps and will also be using thermal insulation foil roll (the brand i found claims to be a effective as 55mm of polystrene)

and for the difference of a £1 for an extra 25mm in i think ill go for the 50mm polystrene and this foil roll stuff. will also be using both under the floor and the stuff you get for laminate flooring under the lino (have lots of laminate flooring stuff left over)

all the wooden joints (from joining walls together) i will be using a sealent to help get a seal.

as you say its the little things that you normally forget like airline/ brackets

for the airline/air supply im going to use 20mm tube around the shelves and i will drill into the tube where i need an air source for the filters using connectors i found in b&q.

carnt go any deeper thank 2.1 m(7ft) due to space as my dad still need abit of storage but i will go almost max width at around 5ft

thanks again for the prices as i said i will be going for the thicker 2 inch due to the price difference not being to much. in b&q/wickes (where ive got most my prices from) are about 2x more for 2 inch.

that sturodur looks siulair to kingspan which is very costly

as said above looks like im using 5cm polystyrene and a layer of foil buble wrap allround (claims to be as good a 5.5 cm)

fuse box is no promblem still have to do a new shed supply with a nice big fuse box for me to use.

for shelving i was going to use 28mm kitchen work tops (cheap ones can be from £15 for 3 meters) and i know i can trust them.

also what have you done for lighting? i was think of using 2 5ft fittings and no light for the tanks

I got the electrican to install a 5ft flouresent in the larger side and i have a 4ft in the smaller side. The 4ft is above the top row on a timer and lights them up great, i used normal aquarium starter units and 5ft tubes from B&Q for the bottom and middle shelves. The bulbs from B&Q are very cheap compared to aquatic bulbs but they do nothing for fish colours, they give out a yellowy light and do not show the colours of at all. I am concidering changing these for a better colour bulb..
Thats another thing i forgot to mention, the bill for the electrician was another expense i overlooked, all in mine came to £150, which wasnt bad but still an added expense, i do all the building work myself but water and electric do not mix so i do not touch electrics at all, so i had to pay an expert. He did a great job and installed 8 sockets, fusebox,lights and timers. Without the electrics fitted in an expert manner the project would not of started…..

Hiya, i used 3.5cm x 5,5cm wooden strutts (they come in 3 meter lengths) cut to size each aquarium has its own compartment . The side with 18 aquariums on it used 57meters which cost me around 53 pounds all together. All in all the cost for the 2016 Liter side was 18 x €30 for brand new tanks, €100 wood, €100 for filter matierial (each tank has a 35 x 38 x 10cm filter in it and €80 euro for a new airpump (4000L per hour using 35Watt)

ste i am a ‘quailified electrician’ now so that no problem.

the work on yours sounds very cheap to me. i m looing at putting a double socket for 2 tanks im now planning on having 15 bigger tanks (when i say bigger i mean 2-3ft) tanks for about 8 doubles (incase i need to add heater for the different fish etc)

ive seen a link to normal tubes (most electrial wholesalers should have them) on the internet costing about £3.50 each whick some planted people use. ill have a look for you.

has any one got a fan or dehumidefier? (sp.)

It was cheap, it was done by a retired qualified spark who is a family friend,he wanted to get out of the house and keep himself busy and earn enough to go for a pint when finished. He has done a great job and it is very safe.. That was my one demand at the beginning.. AS SAFE AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE..Let me know about the bulbs as i am not happy with these yellow ones. A humidifyer would be useful i have a corner of the ceiling that seems to collect condensation, although it is part that is not yet insulated and i think this is where hot and cold air collide and form moisture, i expect it to fix itself once insulated. I have a fan but need a smaller one as mine is to big and takes up to much room. Ill post a few more pics soon.
