    Hello all,
yesterday I saw my first fry! As of this morning, I have counted 20, and expect more are present. I transferred 13 of them to a neighboring tank, and am still counting 7 in the breeding tank. Here’s a quick review of the breeding tank:
10 gallon (US). Power filter with a foam block pre-filter strapped around the intake strainer, to prevent sending the fry through the impeller! Heated, set to 82 degrees F several months ago before adding CPD; CPD bred at 82 F; looks like other posts suggest cooler may be better, I may turn it down some. The overhead fluorescent hood strip light is on about 14 hours per day, on a timer. Most of the volume of the tank is filled with dense java moss. The wild caught adults (6 males, 3 females) hide most of the time in the moss — quite shy. Tank-mates: conical live-bearing Malaysian snails (swarms of ’em), five juvenile bushy-nose plecos. Conditioning: after adding the CPDs to the tank about 3 weeks ago, I began feeding microworms several times a day as I was able, and added a powdered infusoria-substitute.

More later, including water parameters and photos! Best of luck to all,
    – Dean

Congrads! You’re now a proud ‘parent’ of one of these gorgeous little fishies!

Good luck with the upbringing.

    albatross,
I’ve got walter worms, but the fry don’t seem very interested in them yet. How soon do yours take worms? Their bellies are continuously plump, so I assume they are getting infusoria I can’t see?

I just got my first fry about half hour ago. Tried to catch it but it zipped right down into the carpet of Java Moss. Hopefully it will stay hidden from the adults or it will end up as a nice silver sliver of food before I know it. In any event, it is a good sign! My water conditions and everything must be A-ok if I am getting fry. I am going to take it all on seriously with spawning tanks as soon as I get the supplies from their various locales across the globe.

This is pretty exciting!! I have been raising my orginal tank-bred stock for about a month.
