Hey. I’ve noticed the smallest female of my group of CPD’s appears to be depressed and not eating for the past few days. She seems distant from the rest of the group and doesn’t shoal with them as normal. Any suggestions? I did do a major tank clean over the weekend and moved them into a 25 litre bucket whilst I did this. I’m wondering if she’s still a bit shaken from that? When the CPD’s were originally in my Juwel Rio 125 I saw this in another small female that eventually died so i’m a bit worried. I’m down to 2 of the original 5 I bought first now! :(

Also, I feed them on TetraMin Crisps. Are these enough to meet their dietary requirements? Thanks!

Could be shocked from the water change. Not more than 40% at a time is recommended.

Something like Nutrafin Cycle solution would help.

    That’s my guess.

It was only just over 1/2 a bucketful I changed that was really dirty from syphoning the gravel, so about 8 litres (30%). I kept most of the water in the 25 litre bucket with the CPD’s. The tank is already cycled and the sponge/ceramic media from the filter were placed in a fine mesh bag above an airstone in the bucket with the CPD’s aswell, to preserve nitrifying bacteria. I will test the water anyway. Thanks for your suggestions though. :)

There is no need to remove fish from a tank to clean it. Do you have a gravel vac? a Gravel vac will take all the detrius out of the gravel and won’t suspend it in the water colum either if you are careful (not that it would really hurt the fish anyway) IF your fish seem stressed from big water changes-do smaller ones, more often.
    Hope she pulls through!

It was a major clean though. The tank had sunlight where it was originally placed and I had a lot of algae growth over everything. With it being a small tank aswell, there was nowhere for the fish to hide as i’d taken all the ornaments out. I also had to fit the background, so it was the best option to empty it. Anyway, i’ve bought some frozen baby brine shrimp in jelly. I fed them a cube this morning but none of the fish seem interested in those! Also, I do have a gravel vac on the end of my syphon I use. I’m going to buy some more Elodia in the meantime and leave it free-floating so there is more cover. :)
