I had my galaxies without much lighting and they din’t seem to be out much. Turned on my UV lamp, so it was much more lit, they came out more at first, then not so much again.

With my recent moving of the tank to near the window and right next to my community change and only filtered natural light, they are out way more than even before, and have become more beautiful than ever and are doing the courtship thing more.

Mom thinks it’s the fact that they can see into the community tank and see other fish just slightly bigger than them, but I dunno.

Anyway, I thought that was pretty interesting. In a great way.

Yeah I’m a big fan of natural light and full-spectrum lighting. We humans might not care, but animals are more sensitive, and it definitely makes a huge difference. Lighting is important in my tanks and I have an auto-timer that simulates the day/night cycles. The 20-gallon has a Hagen Power-Glo Fluorescent Aquarium Lamp at 15W and 18 inches. And of course, it’s important for the plants, which are part of the tank ecosystem.
