My poor little babies. Somethings gone terribly wrong, I popped out this morning and when I got back, all bar 2 little fry are dead. I checked my water stats which are as always, but then I noticed the water felt a little warm and double checked the temp, which had shot up from 24-30C So I’ve removed the surviving galaxy fry and killie fry. Binned the heater and sat down and cryed! (I know really pathetic)
I can only assume that the rapid rise in temperature is the cause as I can’t find anything else that’s different, and they were all still so tiny, I shouldn’t think they could cope with such a change.

On a more positive note, I don’t need to rehome my betta as I picked up a small spawning tank for £10, now I just need to sort out a new heater for my fry tank and a small heater for the spawning tank, and start all over again.
    *Sigh*

Aww, I’m sorry to hear that!
Don’t fret though- now that they are breeding I’m sure they will give you lots more fry. And now you have a new tank to worry about! :) What a lucky betta!

the same happend to my baby guppies (the first fish i breed when i was about 14)

the heater was all i could point the finger at. the heater must of got stuck on as the water was really hot!

good luck with the remaining fry

Katkin, sorry to hear about the disaster. But alas, the circle of life continues despite tragedy! I’m sure you’ll have lots more fry… here’s wishing your fish many generations of abundance!!
