CPDs and Sparkling Gourami

In an impulse purchase (who can resist a .99 fish?) I bought a female betta. She’s currently living in a goldfish bowl, but I’m trying to find a better situation for her. Has anyone had sparkling gouramis with their CPDs? They seem to have a similarly timid nature, and don’t get much bigger. While I think I will miss them on my desk at work, if they’d cohab with the CPDs I could move the new girl into their 2.5 gallon tank.
In the long term, has anyone ever kept a rainbow shark with a school of CPDs? I’m looking at a planted 75 gallon, with a shark and some stray mollies. If I could school some CPDs in that very big tank, I could reclaim my kitchen counter where the 10 gallon sits!
Thoughts?
