Well I going to be setting up at least one if not 2 tanks to keep both Kuhli loaches and CPD. Planted tanks, Anubias nana, Bacopa Caroliniana, Ludwigia Repens, Wisteria, Crypt Lucens, many other soon. I may get some moss although I have yet figured out how to keep it alive. Substrate will be very small gravel for Kuhlis with multiple hand made ceramic caves.
When I had the tanks set up before, I kept them very hard water. Lots of GH and KH to get the best growth. From what I have read, CPD prefer a slightly softer water so I am planning to keep it softer this time. Lower pH, around neutral I hope, and lower lighting.
Is there anything I am missing as far as getting ready before I get them after my tanks have cycled? Breeding is an option but only after I know I can keep them in good health.
Oh and the tanks are 10 gallons. I know that is small but I have rather good success with keeping them clean and stable. How many could I keep in a 10 gallon and keep them healthy. Remember this is for both Kuhlii and CPD.
I have seen numbers as low as 4 Kuhli and 4 CPD all the way up to 8 Kuhli and 20 CPD. I won’t have that many unless they all breed but a general idea would be much appreciated. Tank will be heavily planted with 50% water changes weekly, AC20 HOB.
