I am not saying it is always the case but for me i had extremely bad luck with this danio.I tried 3 batches of 7 and each time only one survived and the other were gone before morning. After my betta died i tried again and not one death and all thriving. So is it that this Betta although seemed to ignore them in the day maybe was picking at them and stressed them at all night or maybe i was getting a bad batch .I had the exact results with cardinals in the same exact way.

I have heard the exact thing from people who bought from me except one case in a 55 gallon

I’ve bought 4 different groups of CPD’s over the last several years. Two of the groups were purchased from importers just selling fish on and the fish were weak and very stressed from all the shipping. One group was from and importer that conditions his fish before selling them on and they were in much better shape when they arrived. The last group was from an individual breeder here in the US and the fish were heads above any of the wild imports for health and vigor.

Sorry to hear you lost so many. I would never keep them with a betta in fact any other fish other than some peaceful catfish and shrimp

I keep mine with a shoal of Corydoras habrosus, a small group of Pseudepiplatys annulatus, a few Caridina sp. and it works really well.

I’m going to start breeding the cpds soon, build up my numbers and move them to a bigger display tank, where they will be sharing with more of the same.
