Ha ha as i sit and write this i am getting the mick took out of me from my other half..
Who else sits infront of fry tanks with magnifying glass waiting and counting..i am sure im not alone..am i the only one with tanks in every room and live food cultures placed at random locations..Is your house rapidly turning into a large, often messy fishroom.. Please let me know so i can prove to my wife im not all alone being a complete fish geek lol.June 23, 2007 at 1:20 pm #11467katkinParticipant:lol: You are NOT alone! Admitedly, my house isn’t too bad (yet) So far three tanks in the front room and a small one in my daughters bedroom. I blame it all on my husband, he bought me a tank before he went away to give me something to do while he was gone. By the time he got back 3 months later i had 4 tanks up and running!
Now I want to seriuosly breed my cpd’s all hell is going to break loose. I’m getting a stand for a four foot tank, which will actually hold 2X 4ft tanks (he! he!) BUt instead of two 4ft tanks I’m going to have the 4ft on top with two 2′ tanks underneath for growing on fry. plus I’ll have to put the spawning tank somewhere. Luckily the spawning tank is only 16″ x 6″ so it can probably sit on the windowsill.
Water change day is always a mess, with buckets everywhere and trying to keep my 2yr old from playing in it!
I’m dreading trying to move them all this summer, with styrofoam boxes, bags, fish, plants, gravel etc everywhere. Plus the removals men getting in my way.The best part is, my husband can’t complain as he desperately wants a marine tank in the next few years. Seeing as what he wants is going to cost a fortune, he doesn’t dare say anything about my tanks. (me spending mere hundreds compared to his estimated thousands!)
Now where did I put that magnifying glass?
KJune 23, 2007 at 4:54 pm #11469atlantis_childParticipantUh, I don’t think I’m quite a fish geek yet.
No fry for me yet, but I spend tons of time looking at my fish tanks. ( I can see them from my desk that I work at and have my computer at, in my room ) I only have 2 tanks set up right now: a coldwater 5 gallon and my 10 gallon ‘breeding’ tank, but I just bought a 20 gallon and equipment that I’ll set up soon…
And 3 dwarf sunset platies that are so cute!!
I’ve started to collect, strain and boil water to lower my water PH and water hardness.
I tried hard convince my parents to let me build a koi pond in the backyard, and almost suceeded.
I keep a diary solely for accounting all my fish doings.
And I was looking at buying tye-dye cloth with fish on it at the fabric store and making a dress out of it, but that doesn’t count. Does it…?
(and now I really. really want it, so I’ll go back when I get the chance!)Oh geez, I sound like I’m in denial.
Am I a fish geek? I don’t know really, make your own conclusions.

June 24, 2007 at 12:37 am #11473ste12000ParticipantAtlantis child dont be afraid to let it all out, be proud lol…Setting up a third tank is where it all becomes a slippery slope to true fish geekyness..
My kids are sick of visiting the local fish shops, half the time they havent even had new stock in and im dragging the kids around for the 3rd time that week. I think there are a lot worse things to do with your time and money….June 24, 2007 at 12:40 am #11474ste12000ParticipantWhat do you breed MacedonianLion…. I think there are a lot worse things to do with your time and money….I’m already accidentally referring to the 20 gallon as a 40. But getting a tank twice the size as the last one is a good way to go about tank buying, Don’t cha think?
Won’t be for a while though. I’m still a poor, unemployed student…
MacedonianLion: wow…that’s quite the list!
June 25, 2007 at 2:46 pm #11483glennParticipanti got 3 tanks in the living room, 1 tank in the computerroom and 1 in the kitchen(cpdtank)
