Well Tan, they’ve definately been showing signs that they want to breed, ie the little dance display etc but nothing yet. However I’ve only had them a couple of weeks so we’ll see. I’m hoping to re-do one of my tanks with better lighting, substrate etc this weekend and move them into that, as the tank they are in has just got whatever plants I had available thrown in and it looks a mess. I’m also waiting on some java moss to arrive (hopefully before the weekend) I was considering putting some peat in there as well to try and lower the ph a little, but I might wait and see if they will still breed even at a ph of around 8!
The garden center at Morrisons does have a few fish, but the quality is not brilliant, nor are the prices. Most of the guppies I bought from there died or had major whitespot.
I tend to shop at Maidenhead Aquatics in Poppleton, aquatic fanatic in Northallerton or Forestmoor garden center in Calcutt (near knaresborough) There’s another one at Bishop Monkton that look pretty good, especially if you are into Marine tanks. I didn’t see anything I wanted as far as freshwater fish are concerned and they seemed abit pricey.
It certainly is a small world. You’ll have to let me know next time you’re up this way, you can come and give me some suggestions on my rather sad looking tanks, which seem to multiply everytime I go out! My husband is going to go mad, He bought me the first tank before he went away, thinking it would give me a project to keep me busy. Little does he know, I now have 4!! Trying not to think about our next impending move and how on earth I’m going to keep everyone alive. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
